HELP: exhaust fumes in cabin
i have a very distinctive smell of exhaust fumes in my cabin everytime after hard driving.
for normar driving , it wont happen.
I start to have this problem after i upgraded to MS Flywheel. at the same time i also changed gear oil to red line.
ive checked for the following;
-no leaks in gear oil
-no leaks in engie oil
-no exhaust leaks from the mid pipe or anywhere
-got out to sniffed around under the car, in the engine bay, in the a/c vents, still cant find the source of odour, but its definately in the cabin
this begining to really **** me off...
cant find the cause, except it definately started after i changed to MS flywheel, and only when i drive hard.....where? where? where?
*i always drive with the windows up
for normar driving , it wont happen.

either way, it wasnt there before the flywheel swap, and it only comes round if i took the car for hard drive...
*btw, before the time i upgrade f/w I dida midpipe swap and that did not cause any problems..

I had that smell right after I got mine and ran it hard like the first 3 times. I was worried it smelled like the oil stuff the dealers spray on the engines to make them shiny was getttin hot and burning off. after the 3rd time I don't get the smell any more. How often have you got this? Try running it hard again and see if its' still as strong or if its still even there as it was b4. Good luck

Stinks!
I have the EXACT same problem...right after my engine was replaced it started occurring. Funky smell coming throught the vents. Does the car have a cabin air filter? Maybe the dealership forgot to put it back in after the engine swap. In any case, the smell is pretty bad, and I really don't want to take it back to the dealer. I hope we can come up with a fix...
New engine seems to be running strong though.
Also, I get a violent rattle when launching from a stop very gently (when the RPMs are around 1000-1500).

This is not normal or at least my car hasn't done it yet -
If you can borrow or buy a cheap CO2 tester it will tell you if it is really exhaust getting into the cabin - if so you have a leak in your system and this means you need to check connections
If no CO2 it's not exhaust but something getting warm and off gasing - make sure fuel line is competent.
Put down a big sheet or two of butcher paper and park on it overnight - look for oil and gas spots -
Change filters that are behind the glove box - pinch the sides and glove box can pull out - two flat filters are behind it
Clean engine
Look under car make sure nothing is stuck to the cat - like a plastic bag
Vacumn the area at base of wipers - stuff can slide in and off gas especially when hot.
Please post if you figure it out
