hey guys my 1st post i am looking to buy an rx8 as cheap as possible and do a performance buildup is there any year specific i should know about ? that's better than other years or will aftermarket be able to cover what ever issues ?

i can get one rite now for $8000 Canadian an 04 but im not in no rush.
Is the renesis worth it for performance ? is there alot of reliable power that can be planted to the floor
or should i look for an rx8 with a blown engine and drop a 20B

the renesis isn't that bad is it? i know its about $3500 usd for a total power kit to plant 100 WHP on the power side of things vs if i get the car cheaper i can save about $3000 + the initial $3000 for turbo kit = $6G's towards a 20B hmmmm as long as its in good condition ill drop it stock straight in for that cost

a 20b swap will probably run in the upper 20k+ range.

and to get 100 reliable whp on the renesis budget ATLEAST 6,000.

to be frank, FI on a budget is no good because you will end up going cheap somewhere and that can cost you your engine.

 

yeah for high performance the 20B will b the best however that will cost u a pretty penny....also spending 6 to 10k on the renesis will give u some good numbers also!!!!

OP-wrong car. You cant mod this car on a budget. Ive spent thousands of dollars and I still havent ran below a 14.9 on a quarter mile (when 14.5 is stock )

 

Speaking in $CDN, you'll have to double everything for shipping+exchange rate, etc.

I've spent about $10k (probably more) and all I have is what's in my sig..

 

get an 04 with a blown motor if you're trying to do it on the cheap.

 

Want cheap power? Buy an F-Body. Otherwise, get ready to spend big $$ or accept 15 second 1/4 miles.

 

there is no Power with the RX8, at least nothing you are expecting.

 

Unlike cheap American cars that are built down to cost with power crippling components, the RX-8 is pretty wound out out for performance already. There's not much you can do to improve on power without adding a turbo, and then you're going to be spending $$$$ or $$$$$

 

No actually for 'QUICK" power just get an ebay chip and electric supercharger and that will put u about 900whp...and 1289ft./lbs to the wheels

 

dude you have your numbers wrong its 899 hp with 675 ft tq

anyways guys thanks for your response i got a running rx8 for $4000 canadian of Jijiji.ca and i already have a 20B, i did a construction job for JK gJapanese motors and got it for free 3 years ago was suppose to go in my 3rd gen, until it got stolen,
i have droped a stock 20B before into a 2nd gen for a friend and it cost us $5500 canadian with motor, so i donno maybe you guys are paying for your swaps or getting shafted

 

pics or it didnt happen..

and maybe we have a better idea of what it takes to get a 20b into a rx8.

Sorry man, Im calling BS on both an RX8 for 4000 canadian dollars and that you have a 20B lying around.

Unless its a total, with no motor, you wouldn't get it for 4k.
