help!!!blown coolant seal!
hey guys, ive been having a couple issues with my car, im still a noob when it comes to working on a rotary engine. my engine overheated a couple days ago because of a bad coolant seal. and i know any seals or gaskets are covered by the warranty, but the mazda dealer is telling me that the part that caused my engine to overheat isnt covered by the warranty, therefore my engine isnt covered by warranty (the part not being covered is a cracked radiator overflow tank). now my question is would a coolant seal go bad before the overflow tank did? i would appreaciate your guys help with this. thanks.

Sorry man, the dealer is right. Coolant seals tend go out when the engine has been run for quite some time when overheated. I've seen my fair share of engines pop due to coolant seals, best bet is start looking at a rebuild or start looking for another engine to replace yours with. Try Mazmart, they usually have good deals on engines.

but in your case, it was owner's neglect which casued the engine to go out. so nope you're not covered.
so yep, you're pretty much fuxked

Let us know ur expenses so we have an idea of what could be...good luck man

well, the car has been sitting at the dealership for the last week and they havent been able to determine wether its covered or not... and its kinda frustrating because they service dep manager made me call mazda myself to find out. so yeah. it freaking blows. funny that mention the swap, i was thinking about it this morning...how much work and fabrication really goes into it?
