Hello, new owner, trade in my BMW 330i

Hello to all, new memeber, traded in my BMW 330i ZHP on the RX-8, While the BMW is a great car which I will miss I just did not want to worry about the mega $$ repairs when the warranty runs out in a couple months. I have always loved the RX-7's and now the 8's. My first '91 RX-7 Turbo II, was built and running 450hp, an amazing ride.. I think I will be very happy with the 8. Just got to order a couple things to get started.
1. the front air dam
2. the silver gas door cover.
who has the best prices?

It is an 04 Yellow 6speed only has 7200 miles on it, so just getting broke in

Can't help you with finding parts, but I'll be more than happy to be the first person to say hello. "Hiya!" Welcome to the family. I hope you enjoy your 8.

How much do you miss your zhp?

I just got out of my zhp Ci lease. It was a fantastic car - but I couldn't have it for some reasons (Imola red being one of them!). I've been waffling since. Rx-8 was the original plan but then I've grown a bit cold on it. Current contenders:

rx8
another zhp
e46m3 (about to be ruled out for not enough depreciation ... yet and overkill...)
e36m3
s4 (I know straight line fun only but really nice interior)
r32 (ruled out for terrible seats and price appreciation)

Thoughts are welcome.

Are you the mjones from rennlist?

Congrats on your purchase.

hey man, and welcome!
I know how you feel about end of warranty repairs. I once paid $150 for a radiator hose fix at the dealer. $450 for a wheel bearing and tie rod end job... the list goes on. Had an A4.

Almost a year in my rx8 and only had 3-4 oil changes at 40 bucks each. hehehe. I never had to worry about this car the way I did about german automobiles.

Welcome MJones. Yellow is a good color. If they had that in 2005, I probably wouldn've gotten one. I have a shinka.

Good luck with your car!

welcome to the family. you'll find that these site if full of intelligent people who can almost always answer any rx8 related questions. there are some trolls which tell you to always use the search or have some quick dumb comment regardless of subject area but never mind them.

sorry can't help with the parts but will suggest you get some zaino to spruce up the outside. it turned me into a believer after i read the reviews of the product on this site.

Merciless, nice license plate on your RX-7. Reminds me of that Adam Sandler song, "POS Car".

the 330i zhp, was indeed a great ride. I will miss it, but I am just loving the 8, almost bought one before the BMW. Weird thing is the BMW looks to get better MPG, this 8 looking like it has a hole in the tank just driving it easy, only real problem I have found so far.
ordering the front air dam tomorrow, it is a must have, they look so much better to me with them. Side to come later.
Thanks guys, for the welcome

congrats on the 8. I also traded my 01 325ci for the 8, not to say the bmw is not a good car but the parts was killing me, 19 dollars for one spark plug. the coolant sensor went out, and to replace that plus the 6 plugs ran me $605. Haven't had any problems with the 8 yet. Knock on wood.

the strakes seemed way over priced, but they do look good.

3-Series from 1999 & on aren't as high-maintenance as you'd think. (Yes, believe it.) You just need to find a reliable mechanic or service place OTHER THAN the dealer- so you don't pay thru the nose for routine maintenance. (That's what I did.)

Nonetheless, CONGRATS on joining the club!

That's a nice site. I've seen the chrome strakes people are using and I think they look just terrible. It just doesn't flow at all. Colored ones to match the paint seem to look much better especially on the lighter colors (silver, grey, red, and even blue). Thanks!

welcome.
I also traded a 330 for my RX-8 and we still have an E46 325 convertible in our garage. The E46 feels like driving an SUV compared to the RX-8.

Me too, I traded in my e46 328 right after the warranty expired. Miss it once a while but no regrets.
