Ive bought an rx8 had it about 2 weeks whilst driving on the motorway the check engine light has come on, the car is starting and running fine, any ideas before i get raped by a mechanic?

 

1)get a trusted mechanic .... if u dont know any go to mazda
2)it could be an easy fix like an 02 sensor, how many miles and what year

 

63500 and 2004
it had a full service 8000 miles

 

Its probably nothing. Just ignore it.

 

what state? im sure some members can help u find a trusted mechanic/performance rotary shop, and look at these videos while your at it
(ignore what he says about synthetic oil, it could benifit you if your not under warrenty)

No one here can help you until you get that code read. Buy a code reader or go to a local shop and get it done. I know that here in Canada some Part Source places do it for free

its in pretty much immaculate condition, I'm due o go to mazda tomorrow morning, just wasnt sure if it was common for it to come on so randomly when the car is being maintained well
