i think he mentioned in his original post, that whatever compensation he gets back from insurance, it won't be enough for him to buy another RX-8

glad you are okay army. thats a lot of momentum. i hate that ****, the woman obviously knew her light wasnt green. own up, be a responsible adult, at least you didn't seriously hurt anyone this time lady. grrr, angry just thinking about it. glad you aren't taking it too bad (red light green light, hah)

I would think getting another rx8 would be a toss up at this point. prices and value are all over the place, please keep us informed on the settlement

^ I was thinking the same thing. Prlly depends on the mileage. If you were fairly low you may be able to grab one of the recently returned leased 8s with the settlement amount - or get close enough that the extra cost is insignificant over a few years payments.

I don't suppose the eventual insurance settlement will be enough to at least buy a used 8? I think insurance companies go by Kelly Blue Book rates as a primary guide right?

Well, you can always get another 8 in the long run.. Just be glad it saved your life, which you can't get back.

i'd have enough most likly to get a used rx-8 but i'm a lill hesitant not sure how hard the previouse owner drove her..that sort of thing...i'm going to get anouther one...either now...or in the future..i lvoed my car.....hehe and still love her even though she shrank.

hmm as to wha ti was thinking when it happened (not sure who asked that)....the only think i thought when i saw her SUV looming over my 8 was

"I'M BONED"

then after the car stoped spining i thought......."great....now i'm i'm going to hear about is the curse of the silver thing from the guys/girls on the forum "

on a side note i have 3 defi gauges, a richard paul short shifter, and a rp supercat that i have no use for now .

teh supercat was off the car b/c i took her in and got a new engine...haha only got 2 months out of the new 13b

i took the guages adn shortshifter out of the car before the insurence peopel towed her. the short shifter has a lill crake on teh pivot bushing (whatever it's called at eh bottom)..that has been mentioned on this forum by a few others tha thave the same thing..i believe a replacment is avaliable from richard.

the guages are fine (and control unit II)...but all the sensors are still in th ecar...LOL there was no way to get them out b/c everythign was sandwiched together.

sniff sniff.

oh and for whoever asked....yes she was on her cell-phone

Insurance is supposed to give you what it takes to replace YOUR car. If it doesn't, you have the right to sue both the person who caused the accident and your own insurance company. And you should.

wow! army i am so glad you are ok (sans hand)!! i wont mention the curse ... we are all just really glad you are ok!!! and if youd like us to beat up that stupid woman, i'll volunteer! i may be small, but im feisty!

from past experience, you will probably be sore in the next few days. please go see your doctor, as a lot of soft tissue injuries happen and dont show up right away. you can get into physical therapy immediately and ward off a lot of the future pain.

i got rear a long time ago and didnt know i had a dislocated vertebrae in my neck until years later. of course it was too late to sue him and i had to pay all the costs myself.

I hate these dumb bitches who still trying to get away from something thats so obvious at her fault.

Glad u're ok. Sue her ASAP and get them to pay for your new 07 8 ASAP ! We all will be waiting for you. Oh by the way, please go have a complete check at the hospital. Just to be sure everything is alright.

Try for a MazdaSpeed3 hehe.. might be able to swing a Mazda Loyalty bonus (if they even have one). Or maybe just a normal Mazda 3 dont go the Civic Route man, be like driving a TVR one day and the next driving a Smart Car.

I'm happy your alive and for the most part not hurt (hows the hand feeling?). You went to the ER I hope to get X-Rays. Oh and definatly get a lawyer for pain suffering, I'm thankful I did if not I'd be stuck with over 2k in bills right now after my PiP ran out (now just waiting for a settlement to get the money to pay the doctor off). Oh also since you just had a NEW engine put in mention that to your insurance company since it should increase your value a bit (I'd imagine atleast). Be thankful though that both of you have the same insurance provider though, hopefully means all types of services in regards to cash will be made a bit quicker. I had a check cut for my Truck after my accident within 2 weeks after being told it would take over a month from everyone. The woman who hit me had the same insurance company as me so it worked out.

Hope ya stay around atleast man

My first thought is OUCH! However, I am impressed with the shape the car is in afterward. Looks like it protected you pretty well for such a hard impact. It makes me feel a little better about my chances if I meet up with miss cell phone socker mom.

Heal up quick.

Sorry about you problems.
Don't accept a check. Make the insurance company by you a replacement car. If you take this option, they have to get you a replacement in at least as good condition and the same or lower mileage as your existing car. They have access to the auto auctions and can get used cars at a lower cost than we can. Use this option if you want to stay in a RX8 and use your aftermarket parts.

Sorry for your loss bro. Your experience reinforces how a small car like the 8 can hold it's own in a crash. Safety first is a must (5 star rating). How did the Suv driver fair in the crash?
