Has anyone seen a picture or in person the trunk or the hood open? I have been wondering which way the hood opens (The Evolv hood opened backwards).

Please tell me that the funky looking think that flips the normal way (on hood) is only for the concept. Personally I think that the "backwards" flip gives it a more sportier look when looking inside, kinda like the 'vette and viper. The trunk... R&T says that it can fit two full size golf bags in there, but it may be hard getting those bags in the trunk from what it looks like, but then again much has changed since then...

 

On the latest version of the RX-8, the hood is one piece. Can't say for certain which way it opens, but I bet it'll be conventionally hinged at the rear.

I *think* on the the yellow RX-8 showcar, the trunk wasn't finished (no carpeting, trim, etc.), and it couldn't be opened.

As for holding two golf bags, I bet it will - although the car has a really short trunk lid, the trunk will probably extend quite far into the car (think of how long the shelf is behind the rear seats due to the sloping rear window).

 

Hopefully it will open like a normal car, with the hood attached close to the window. Its easier to work on.

The old RX-7's (from the early 1980's) would take your head off if you ran into something. The hood was attached to the front and would come right through the window. Even at low speeds. Bad way to die.

Anyways, I hope that it is attached close to the window.

 

I hope the trunk opens like a hatch, something similar to the other RX-7s. It would give more open space to get things in and out of the trunk. Mazda should think carefully of this one b/c the RX-8 isn't a TRUE sports car; it is some type of family 4 door/sports car. I can't believe that it can only carry 4 golf bags. I plan on bringing 4 people with me to the course where are my other 2 golf bags going to fit? This is Very myopic planning in design.
