Ok, so I had to return my 2004 GT b/c the dealer couldn't fix a scratch b/c the paint couldn't be found (???). Not that big a deal though b/c they are gonna cut me a deal on a 2005, so I should be in my 2005 soon . However, maybe you gurus can enlighten me as to what the differences are between all the different years of the 8?
Thanks,
FS

Yeah what's with some places online like ebay, etc. advertising a 2003 Mazda RX-8? Just because somebody bought it in 2003 doesn't mean it's a 2003 model

It depends where. In Europe for instance, they sold them as 2003 model AFAIK since they don't have that craze to sell next year's models way earlier like in the US. They started to sell the car in the first half of 2003 already, so saying that it is a 2004 model is pure marketing fluff as far as I'm concerned. It IS a 2003 car.

But if they can give you a similar deal for a similarly equipped 2005, I'd just be happy.

That's what I thought about the paint (mica green). But now it appears I'll be able to get a silver or gray 2005, which is perfectly fine by me . So the first rx8 was released in 2003 with a 2004 year tag on it? Seems much longer than that... probably because I read articles about it b4 it was released...

curious
I'm curious about returning a car because of a scratch. Please fill me in on the details behind this issue. I have a silver, but your story is very interesting.

I'm not sure your going to be able to find an 05 you want either...you must not have heard about the fire at the RX-8 plant
Also returning the car for a scratch...hmmmm don't believe you for a second, maybe you 'needed to have the 05' which it definitely sounds like from the post...well there is virtually no difference between the two
the difference is your going to pay a Hellavulot more for the 05 and that retractable key fob...well for under $200 (much less then the savings of an 04 vs an 05) you can get the 05 key on an 04 car...I have one, so do MANY member here
get the 04

Can't match the paint? I mean what da heck does that mean? How could they not match it, Mazda painted the car?
Anyway, if they have to replace the car the deal should be for an even trade, you should not have to pay a cent. But what do I know...???
