Ive had some power steering problems in the past and have did some diy by cleaning the connectors and resetting the battery.... today while driving my power steering goes in and out and sometime only works when i make a left turn...and this also happened on the freeway...

i have looked for service recalls but could not find any....


anyone ever had this problem?

 

intermittent problem sounds like an electrical failure.....try cleaning the connectors again and make sure all the wires are hooked up to the ......(brain fart).....Rack!!! haha...

 

I had mine go out one morning three years ago- while making a hard left turn across traffic.
But once I got to a safe place I turned off the car and restarted it- and it's been fine ever since. I've since changed my mind on electronic assist features on cars since they don't have the redundancies built in like aviation systems.

And I have had several vehicles with manual steering- 85 RX7, 73 F-100 (heavy heavy steering)... and the 8's steering is very tough to steer when it goes out because it's not designed to be a manual steering system (quick ratio, small wheel).
