Hail Storm
I got stuck in a hail storm (quarter sized hail) this afternoon on a highway with no underpasses to hide under...just five minutes of stomach turning hits of hail on my 8. End result - at least 8 (maybe more) hail dings (no chipped paint, tho) no cracked windows - coulda been worse I suppose. Insurance will cover it ($0) deductible - I'm waiting to file a claim til I can talk to my agent and see if filing this will affect my rates at all. If so, I'll be checking in with my friendly neighborhood paintless dent repair guy.
Overall, a crappy way to start the weekend...

Yeah, I know what you mean - I'm just south of you in the Rockford area - I do have some chips and scratches that have accumulated over the past few years. It's not a matter of getting it fixed, cause I will - it's just a pain...I am curious to see if my insurance would let me use paintless dent repair or if they would insist on a body shop...

If you need a good paintless dent guy I used one that did a great job on my RX, worked the aluminum hood and it was perfect. Aluminum is harded to work then Steel. PM me if you need his info.

Thanks Raptor - I've got a friend who runs a car dealership - I talked to him yesterday, and he has a guy he uses there who is very good, but I won't get to have him look at it til Tuesday - If he's not confident with aluminum, I may contact you for the guy you used.

Just talked to my agent, and my rates will not go up with this claim, and they are fine (even suggested) with me using a paintless dent guy, so now I just have to actually file the claim and then get it scheduled. We have all sorts of wacky weather in this area, but I can honestly say I have never been caught driving in hail. Speaking of wacky weather, it's snowing right now...sigh...nothing sticking, but still wierd...

On a slightly related note; does anyone know how well the front splash guards work as far as stopping chipping from rocks along the bottom panel of the car? Mine are pretty chipped up and I was consider having the paint fixed, but no point in doing it if they'll get all messed up again
