Guys...Im confused.

I want to upgrade my exhaust and intake soon. In my first thread I stated I was gonna stick to Mazdaspeed products because of warranty. I just don't know if the Mazdaspeed exhaust sounds bad enough for me. Then I ran accross the sticky for all moddifiers about .....

US Code - Title 15, Chapter 50, Sections 2301-2312:
Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle (per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C))

I see most of you guys have different exhausts on your 8's. Is this ^^ correct or don't you guys care about the warranty. This is where I'm confused. HELP!

You are correct on the Magnuson Moss Warranty, and I can't think of any scenario in which an aftermarket exhaust would cause harm to any other part of the vehicle.

Intake is a different story though. I've seen people post on here saying that their engine has failed (loss of power due to low compression), and Mazda refused to perform warranty service because of an aftermarket CAI.

Consider that, and also do more research here on CAI's for the RX-8. You'll find that there are no real HP gains to be found, if any, from a CAI. In fact, some people have reported a HP loss with certain aftermarket set-ups.

So, really, I guess the question is WHY do you want to put on an aftermarket exhuast and CAI? If either is for performance gain, you'll be grossly disappointed.

I realize I won't see really any performance gains with these two products. If I was going in that direction I'd save for turbo/supercharger kit.
Just as Greg985 put it..Because it sounds badass is why I want a CAI. I've definitely decided on the Mazdaspeed intake so the dealership can't say anything about it because it's Mazda product. I just want some advice on the exhaust end.

It shouldnt. But then again you never do know what kind of crap the dealership and or Mazda will throw at you come time of a warrenty claim. But just exhaust, no matter which brand, shouldnt void your warrenty. I'm a big fan of the Agency Power exhaust.

You're engine dies from Carbon Buildup...

"You're exhaust created too much backpressure, causing the excess carbon that should have been blown out to clock up the exhaust port...."

I better not see that happen lol.

I really think you'd be fine with just aftermarket exhaust. I wouldnt worry too much about that. If your that worried about the warrenty, I would pass on the CAI if I was you. Especially since it doesnt do a whole lot for the car.

no, gettin an exhaust will not void your warranty. no, changing your exhaust will not cause engine failure.

As long as I take it up to 9000rpm's once a day I should prevent this right?

I did some research on the Agency Power exhaust..would I still get a good sound from it if I didn't use the cat delete? I think it may be a lil loud with that.

To be all honest, I had the cat delete pipe on, and it was incredibly stupid loud. I hated it. Currently I just have the cat back portion on and I really like it. Search on youtube or some of the vender sites have sound clips of the various exhausts. That's how I made my descision. Its also even better if you can hear the exhausts in person, to make your descision.

go to your regional forum, I am sure there are some people around you with exhaust. You can go for a visit and hear them first hand

No, it won't throw a CEL.....if you are only taking about the exhaust.
I have the Racing Beat Ram Air and Revi Intake along with the Racing Beat exhaust and my dealer has never given me the first problem about it. Actually, the all gathered around to take a look at all the stuff on my car.

hey if you are that worried about you warranty just keep the stock one and if you have to go into the dealer just slap it on but i've been to the dealer many times with my exhaust and they never said anything except is this aftermarket? i said yeah they said oh i knew it sounded alot better than stock haha....but never was documented i had an aftermarkeet exhaust andi've never been refused service however if it does have something to do with engine/cat somethign they COULD (not necessarily will) void it but most likely not they know that we are car enthusiasts and like to mod our rides so just an exhaust will not hurt anything......no yo just have to find the right one

Just throwing more at you. If you do by an exhaust that comes with a cat delete pipe, and you use the cat delete pipe, you will most likely get a CEL.
