Grinding noise from front passenger wheel

Grinding noise from front passenger wheel
I keep hearing a grinding noise when my car is stationary and I turn the steering wheel. It's like metal grinding on metal but it doesn't happen when the car is moving. Any ideas what's causing it?

I have a similar problem when turning the steering wheel all the way to the right. The front driver wheel sounds like it's grinding. It's not rubbing anything either. That happens only when the vehicle is moving.

If the noise changes (gets louder as you steer in one direction, fainter as you steer another, it's probably wheel bearings. I'm new to RX-8 but have had this problem on a couple of cars, so I'm not sure if it's a hub-bearing assembly or you just replace and repack the bearings.
