Got rear ended yesterday

I couldn't believe it. I had just got back from a friends house. Waiting to make a left turn into my driveway of the main highway. All of a suden this Black 09 Chevy Silverado plows into the back of my baby. I get out and look at the damage. I get sick. The driver of the truck comes out and instantly says he sorry. He said he wasn't paying attention and didn't see me until it was too late.

So now I might have an 8 that is totalled. Just got the car about 2 months ago. In a way, I am hoping they claim it totaled because it won't feel the same anymore. Another reason is I want to see how the renesis does in a Hachi. Our SR20 powered hachi does really well, so a Renesis would be interesting I'd say. Also I have found a S2K for a good deal.

On the other hand, I have grown to love the 8. I like all of it's luxuries that it has, plus it's sporty qualities. I guess no matter the outcome, it's a win/win situation? I don't have my camera right now, but I will post up the pics when I get a chance.

If its totaled than thats a good thing. But if you have only had your 8 for two months and now you want an s2k....thats a bad thing.

Oh that sux. Make sure you take it to someone you really trust or has great rep so they can really check for any chassis/frame damage. No matter how minute, if there was any type of damage that isnt just exterior cosmetic, it would be gettin totalled one way or other

Sorry for the delay. I had posted about the accident at work. I work the graveyard shift and sleep during the day.

Well the thing is, I know it won't feel the same if it gets fixed. I've owned an S2k before the 8. I personally prefer the S2k, but the 8 is an outstanding car. I think there are just some people that were meant to drive certain cars. I prefer the S2K.

I had the only WWP on the island, so it was special to me. Now that it's been damaged, I dont know if I will be able to feel the same about it if it were fixed. I believe that is why WhiteHot sold it to me. He was also rear ended by a yaris, only not as bad.

Anywho's it does end up getting claimed totalled, I will still come and visit here. I have learned a great deal about the 8 from these boards. You folks are just a fountain of knowledge that are always eager to help people out.

Now the pics of the aftermath. It doesn't look that bad in the photo's, but the sub-frame is torn. I'll try to get some pics of that when I can.

Thank you everyone for the support and sympathy.

It desn't from the pics. I thought that any damage to the frame would make the vehile totaled? Well the insurance is sending someone to look at the car on tuesday or wednesday. I'll know then for sure. I'll keep you guys posted.

This isn't frame damage. It looks nearly identical to what happened to mine, and they just cut out and replaced the metal housing of the trunk area. Frame was perfect.

The insurance took a look at the car today. They said it looks fixable. They said they wont know for sure until they get it on a frame rack or start tearing it down. Estimated damage is 8500 dollars as of now. Im gonna get the motor and car checked out by 2 other shops of my choice though. I dont trust insurance companies. I know one place im taking it will be the Mazda dealer. The second place is the best shop on the island. So their estimate will be pricey. If it's gonna get fixed, might as well get the best right?

Sorry about your car.

All they did was take info of the incident and we both were on our way. No ticket to the other driver for speeding or anything. No proof of it since it was post accident i suppose.

I do have GAP coverage.

It looks fixable to me as insurance seemed to indicate. Like a lot of SUVs/trucks--they miss regular car bumpers and smash right into the body. Sucks.
