Just to clear the air: Shinari is not going to be any car; not the new RX-8, not the new Mazda 6 either. It is a concept whose sole purpose is to demonstrate Mazda's new design direction (Kodo). We can expect the new 6 to have many cues from this and perhaps an 8 replacement just as Mazda is doing with the CX-5.

Good to see... Charlie, Matt and I were correct about the CX-5 as the "tribute' replacement.
NY Auto Show media release and vid was good, BUT, WHAT an unprofessional looking SLOB Mr. R Davis looks...he can't even wear a 'neck tie', after all he is Mazda's North American vice president!..
He looked very unprofessional and sounded uninspiring...
This just reinforces my belief that the 'execs' are not in it for the correct reasons, they just do not inspire me at all, IMO they are more interested in 'their fun' and what they get from Mazda......FUN Motors.
From what I have been told MNAO communication to their Retail Dealers is just appauling...the support they get is disgraceful.
Distributors soon forget it is THEIR DEALERS who do ALL the heaving lifting and ALL the physical work to sell and maintain the product.
Sorry about the rant, but I really could not believe what I was seeing, and then at the end "he" was more interesting in the food...ha..hardy ha ha!.

Robert Davis is a racing enthusiast who runs his own race team on the side that drives RX-8s and MX-5s. If we get another rotary in the states he will be one of the reasons why- because he wants another one for racing.

by the way one of his current RX-8s is turbo'd. It was quietly sitting in the line of cars in front of the stand at Sevenstock next to the hydrogen one.
so STFU with the nasty remarks. So he liked a sandwhich - big deal i'd like one too.

What is RDR? Why do we race? I have the pleasure to work for Mazda North American Operations, an automotive company that produces amazing products and services. Why do I view it as a pleasure and amazing, simple the people.
The Mazda team and their spirit drive a small company from Hiroshima Japan and worldwide to do amazing things. Recognized by their peers, the automotive press, and the public, in ways that far “out distance Mazda’s weight limit” as a 2% market share company. The Mazda2 as International Car of the Year is a great example, and my favorite example: Mazda’s 1991 overall victory at LeMans.
This spirit created a race team in 1996, of Mazda staff that wanted to race. Since then we have grown, added more cars and members, but always kept the same spirit. Today we have members outside of Mazda, great partners, but again the spirit is still the same. Come with us on a journey, it will be rewarding, but most of all it will be fun.
