good experience with the rx8 warranty

my only real serious compaint about the car is it will not start. i was going to just buy a battery but i thought what the heck, i will call the mazda dealer. the battery is warranted for one year and pro-rated for three. i had two more weeks to go before a year was up so i got a free battery. yea mazda joe

Thumbs up

That's good news, Joe. I'm glad you posted. I sometimes feel like a lot of visitors to our BBS may get the wrong impression -- bad news seems to make a better posting, and usually people are so angry, they're more motivated to post and vent. Sometimes it seems there's nothing but bad news...

I've had good and bad experiences with warranty items, but not because of the warranty. All of the problems I've had extended from the poor quality of the service department I started with when we moved to Alexandria. Offending service department was Brown's Mazda in Alexandria VA.

Have since changed service departments and all the little "service adjustments" were made to the car -- no hassles -- at Rosenthal Mazda in Arlington VA. I've had the car a little more than a year now,and I've got nothing but good things to say about the vehicle, warranty issues, service, and quality.

Did you check the capacity of the battery? When I got mine replaced it went too 660 CCA from the too small 300 CCA.

Thank goodness the old battery is not even listed as a replacement option.

That's interesting about the battery. I've not had any problems with hard starts, although on a couple of cold mornings, I've had to let the starter turn over the engine several times. I've thought about replacing the battery for something more powerful.
