My glove compartnet rattles... it started off as a non-issue but now when I drive I fixate on it and I want to drive off a bridge to make the rattle go away... I tried adding rubber stoppers ON TOP of the existing contacts to increase tentionbetween the two surfaces and eliminatemovement, but that didn;t work Anyone else got an answer or a similiar problem?
HELP, that bridge is looking mighty tempting after 50 minutes of rattle... rattle... rattle...
Even when I turn the radio up so I cant hear it.. I know it is still there.....

It's hard for me to believe some of you are complaining about road noise.
Go ride in a different car (evo), and you'll really appreciate the quietness of our cars.
BTW, I am against anything that will add extra weight on the car.

Your solution would only fix the first issue, right?
I whipped up a felt lining for my 'box - i had stuff in there that would rattle against the plastic... (lug key, etc.)
The angles were a super pain to get decent fitment with a single piece of fabric & in the end i got a little lazy (after about a week with it removed) and decided it was good enough to just put it in.
I made it removable in case i want to redo it or put it back to stock.
Works great!

jedi, unless it can shake the ground across the intersection, I will not put it in my car[/QUOTE]
you obviously haven't heard the stereo in my 8.

Ewwww, don't use Dyno mat....
I'd go for this
http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=53
Then this
http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=52
Zzing!
Try switching tires. Some performance tires makes more noise than others. It doesn't bother me lol. If you want a silent and comfy ride with heavy audio equipment, then you should've bought something else.

hmm i dont get how the RX-8 is noisy.......its a freakin sports car...not a camry or accord...nor a luxury plush ride... I for one dont mind the noise...its actually a nice hum.....but its not obnoxious and its pretty quiet on the freeway...with the windows up.....anyways its a sports car, its suppose to be a bit noisy to give you some feedback on whats happening underneath you......

I don't mind the road noise, I don't even hear much of it and I'm coming from an Acura CL Type S. What I DO mind is that my 2007 car seems to be the proverbial "rattle trap". I've never had a car rattle so much and this is my first new one. The driver side door has at least 3 rattles, the suicide door has 1, the dash has 1-2, the rear deck lid has 1 and sometimes the gauge cluster rattles...and it hasn't even been cold here yet.
I implemented many of Polak's fixes to no avail. I can't believe the car rattles this much...maybe that's why I can't hear the road noise.

Glove Compartment
I took EVERYTHING out of the glove box and it still rattles. and the little vent on the left above the main ac vent drivers side rattles too, but I think I can fix that with an adhesive to keep it from shifting back and forth.

Dont mean to hijack this thread but since we are talking about rattles.....
I have 2k miles on an 07 base manual car. Its really quite right now. So about how many miles before serious rattles developed?
Some road noise but on the only "long" trip (Orlando to Tampa) I have taken I just got used to it.
