General questions and GPS issues.

General question from a new owner

So if any of you read my first post you know I cant get my GPS to work. So I popped that control unit out to see if could notice any thing wrong. It looks to me that there are some cut wires under the center console here is an img.

I have no way to test if these have anything to do with the GPS, some of the colors match some of the GPS cables coming from the connection cable and some don't. So there are around 10 or 15 cables just sitting there cut uncapped. I need to know how to get the whole center console out.

I need to get that whole silver strip out so i can check the cables. Also if its possible to order a new GPS remote that may help me it may just be the controller that's broken. My last question is i need a place in my area(Lansing IL just south of Chicago) to take my 8 to get it checked i didn't want to take it to a dealer ship because who knows how much they will charge or the kind of job they will do. Keep in mind I have little to no knowledge on fixing or working on cars. I am more of a computer guy and not many places in my area will work on anything rotary related.

Any thing easy I can check myself that I need to make sure is working before i keep driving it. The oil is fine and that's about all I know how to check. The back right tire has a leak in it but i am not sure if i should use a spray sealer to fix it in fear that I might mess up the tire sensor.
