Gas Mileage looking good!

I know there are tons of Gas Mileage threads but most if not all are about BAD gas mileage, well this is the opposite.

I'm not sure what is affecting this but here is what has transpired since I picked up my car a few weeks ago. Sorry but it's in Metric.

I picked up the car with a full tank, I drove it until I got the amber light.

Total KM's driven: 400 on the nose and don't know what gas was put in.

I filled up with Sunoco Ultra 94 and drove until amber again.

Total KM's driven: 406

On my 3rd fill up, got amber light but there was no Sunoco to be found, filled up with Esso Premium 91:

Current Km's Driven: 360, fuel left showing on gauge is 1/4 tank.

This is not equating previous, I was getting 100Km's per 1/4 tank which means at the moment I have driven 60 more Km's then the last 2 times. At this rate I will hit at least 460Kms on this tank when I hit amber and theoretically hit 500kms if I risk to E.

2 things have changed since last fill up. I am following Racing Beats recommendation for breaking in the engine. Shortly after I filled up the last time I had put 1600 km's on the car(1000 miles), 98% of the time I did not shift above 4000RPM. After the 1600 Km's I started following the next step, I expanded the RPM's upwards but not at full throttle. I basically still shift around 4000RPM's but often pull it up to 5000 or 6000 RPMs. The other change is I used 91 octane fuel rather then the 94.

Any thoughts on what is going on here? Does 91 octane give you THAT much improved gas mileage? Since my first tank I was more then satisfied with my gas mileage but now I'm exstatic!! I am currently at almost 1800Kms on the odometer.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Metric = does not compute!?!?!?

Sorry, but if you're getting good mileage, then that's great. Wish I could get 94 octane here in vegas..

I barely get 350 - 400km and i have only used sunoco 94. I'm up to 13000KM and it hasn't really improved all that much and i've only used sunoco 94.

Hellbreed, did you personally notice any difference in performance between 94 and 91?

last time I checked I got 22.5 mpg on 87 octane reformulated gas 70% city 30%hwy driving. Got 17mpg before the M flash. I have a 6speed. Could'nt beleive my eyes. I'm very happy with that. The M flash must have improved it.

Hard to say, since I'm still breaking it in I have not given it a good test, once I finish the break in I will give you an update.

Well, what looked to be a great mileage increase actually turned for the worse, very strange.

As mentioned before both previous fillups gave me about 100kms per 1/4 tank. After I hit the 1/4 tank on the 91 Octane fillup it took a nose dive, I got the amber today at 395 Kms. I assume the computer is doing something but don't know enough about it to speculate. I filled up again today with Ultra94 (93.9 cents a litre, highest price yet for me), we'll see by the next fill up if it goes back to its previous pattern.

Too bad, all that excitement for nothing, still pretty happy with 400Kms average per fill up with only 1840Kms.

Sorry for the metric Shaolin, i know what you mean about not equating, when I see 22mpg it doesn't equate either.
