Uh, yeah, why surely. 7,700 pounds.

They say the tire sustained heavy damage & had to be replaced. Now they're waiting on a shipment of earth air to inflate the new one.

And we thought that Mazda service here on Earth was bad...

Wouldn't it just be quicker to inflate with gas from Uranus? (I know, i know, it's getting old and an immature joke. Hey, I'm stuck at work and gotta amuse myself somehow...)

Maybe. I thought about that, but EPA back here on earth would have a field day with me if they ever found out what I had put in my tire. They would definitely raise a big stink!

That sucks! In LA, I rarely let valets to park my car. They're polite when you are there, but after you're gone...valets turn into street racers. Anyway, I hope you reported it to the police when you discovered the damage. You can use the police report to file a claim with the parking garauge's insurance company. My guess is that it would cost over 2k to fix it. Good Luck!!

Think I found who did it!!!!

Thanks to all of you for your mostly on -topic replies- and the info about them wearing you down is useful. The police came to take a report but then said it is a private matter. The garage will file a claim to insurance co. monday morning- the question is will they pay off and will they agree with Mazda's amount?

Tonight I again decided to see if any SUV's in my garage had damage that might correspond to mine, and I did see a woman coming for the night shift in the hospital in a white suv (looked like the paint on mine was white)

AFter she left I examined her chrome bumper and found it was dented and other areas scraped that matched mine. I scratched a little paint that was deposited on her chrome plated dent area, and while I cant be %100 sure of the color - what I did see on my finder were sprarkles exactly like the kind on my Titanium!!!!

I did leave plenty of paint there so another party could scratch it off to see.

I'm going to leave the info with my paint sample I took off my thumb and put onto scotch tape with some pictures and measurements of her bumper and mine.

Not sure if this will help my case though- since they may say "OK great detective work- now go sue her insurance company."

The ironic thing- is that she has loads of religious stuff hanging from her rear view mirror, etc. If in fact it was her- "what would Jesus think" of her actions?

I don't know about Jesus, but she's either got a lot of *****, or no sense whatsoever, coming back to the garage with the damaged van...

I vote for the no sense whatsoever.

Give all this info to your insurance company and they will go after her. otherwise, they gotta pay it all themselves. I'm assuming you have a reputable company; there are some that would rather stick it to their own customers than stick up for their customers. Good luck, sherlock.

edit: Oh, almost forgot... go back with your digicam and get some pix! Evidence, we need evidence.

Photographic Evidence

Here are the photos I took and just gave to the Garage manager. In looking at the paint sample again that I stuck to some clear tape, It looks like my exact color.

Garage's Insurance paying off!!!

I just got the call- the garage's inusrance is paying off- pronto- they said take it to any shop I want and get it fixed- Mazda also said the dealer would just take it to a shop and have it fixed as well- so I could do that if I wanted. I did tell the adjuster that if he wants to see the car, it will have to be soon since it;s going back to Mazda. He then said well why do you need to out the 3M material back on?- I think I gave them too much information- now I have to explain that I layed out the cost and want to be reuimbursed for my replacment vehicle. I think I learned a vualbel lesson that people in bussines know- only say the very least necessary to anyone......

This is way cool and congratulations. But i'm puzzled; why is the garage picking up the tab? Do they think they are somehow liable for the accident. Usually they have those disclaimers "Not responsible for loss or damage" and in this case I really don't see that they did anything wrong. I'm not knocking a good deal, but can you explain?

Great news emailists, So do you have an ETA on your next 8? If you are going to get another, is it going to be the same or are you going to change something?

I forget the exact legal term, but the garage is responsible no matter what disclaimers they have posted up (disclaimers of that kind mean nothing legally) they take your money, and for that they provide a safe place for your vehicle. I can't prove that woman did it- (also in theory someone from the garage could have moved her car) It would be up to the garages insurance co to prove she did and go after her or make me go after her.

As far as getting another 8, I made a deal with the orig dealer to get me one at 1k above invoice (matching what another dealer offered) They said they located a vehicle (I wanted the exact one I have Titanium, GT, black and CHapparelle interior) and even told them to take a $500 deposit off the same credit card as the first 8. But after questioning them a bit about the other delaers car they were going to swap- they told me-Oh we'll get you a vehicle when you need it- there are plenty around- I kind of freaked on them- asking why did agree to take a deposit and not lock in that vehicle? ANyway my Probe GT is not sold yet- so I'm gonna drive that for a while- plus I'm having relationship problems, and may be moving outside the city and commuting each day- which would kill the 8's exterior pretty fast- so I may hold off for a few months till I know what direction my life is headed, and where I'll be living. I will have had the 8 for 2 months by the time it gets returned- I have loved every minute of it and I know I will get one again- who know maybe by that time they will be none with MPG problems.
