Funny video
I got a 15 min video tape with the car + a quick reference guide for people who don't read the manual (that's me because it's all in Kanji!). It's pretty funny. Starts out with how to open the doors. Moves on to other really complex tasks like selecting reverse, and moving the seat backwards. :p
I did learn some things though. There is a grab handle at the back of the passenger seat next to the centre tunnel which allows the back-seat passenger to pop the seat forward and get out by themsevles. (Drivers side back-seaters are stuck though!).
Also didn't realise the powered seat had so many types of adjustment - height at front and back of the seat cushion, tilt & slide + lumbar.
I don't have a video capture card so you're just going to have to imagine it! :D

I have to say with so many seat adjustments it seem odd
that small of back in your case and your wife's case, were sore
after 4 hours.
Of coarse this has happened with many adjustable seats
and for those buying without somewhat longisg test run, your
concern has everybody's attention.
There may be a familiarity issue with the S2000 that has not sorted itself out. There may be size issues with such a thin-walled design trying to fit so many. I think you should get back to the dealer at first oil change for attempt to involve the engineers at the design centre. (just my 2 cents. I already sent post to Mazda Canada President) Hope you get success.

Also, with regard to the seat comfort, it may also be that with so many possible adjustments, you just haven't found the right setting for your maximum comfort. There is no "correct" setting, it will be unique to each individual since everyone's back (especially at our ages!) is messed up differently. :D

but anyways, i'm really hoping the lumbar support pushes out farther than most of the cars i've owned
