Full RX-8 Review on Motorweek 4/13
Full RX-8 Review on Motorweek 4/13
Looks like the RX-8 is gonna get a Roadtest review on Motorweek, PBS, Sunday 4/13. Hopefully it'll have more to it than the "Car Keys" segment they did a few weeks ago.

It was an awesome review. The full text of the review can be found here:

Not only was it a concise well-written review but the images that went along with it were awesome.
They showed a test driver drive the wheels off the car around the track. If the stability control was on, it sure does let the driver have some freedom. They mentioned a little bit of understeer but you wouldn't have guessed that from the track video
They also showed what appeared to be about a 6'1" 200 lb guy get in the back pretty easilly. And they showed operation of other parts of the car. It is great to see quality good old 60Hz video of the car in action.
It was only about a 3-4 minute review but it told you everything you needed to know.
Great review of a great car. If my psyched-up meter wasn't at 10, it is now.

My question is:
With all of this talk about issues of actual power that were brought up by the SCC article, are they testing a car that has been fixed by Mazda, or one with the same problem the other 8's that have been tested may have theoretically had?
I mean if that is the case, why bother really? How can you give an correct review of the car if you don't have a car that is operating properly?

yet another wonderful review ...
"Minimal body roll and instant throttle response make this car a hoot to throw around our favorite set of curves."
"Plus, four-wheel vented disc brakes with ABS, that only know how to stop fast, fast steering that feels like an extension of your will, and finally an interior that makes sure you are as close to being intimate with a car as society will tolerate."
"The steering weight and feel could not be a better match."
"Renesis delivers an invigorating turbine-like rush of acceleration every time you hit the gas."
I like the final quote the best ...
"It may be the only four-door sports car, but it takes a backseat to no one."
Wow Mazda, you've done one heck of a job!

Same Mazda-supplied "GT"s?
First Automobile and now MotorWeek have referred to the cars they tested as the Grand Touring model (Bose stereo, yadda yadda) but neither has had the MOONROOF.
Did Mazda decide to force the moonroof on people at the last minute?
(For example, I'd love to get the GT goodies, but there's no way I'm going to fit with a moonroof sucking up headroom, so it's "sport" package or nothing for me...)

I guess I want a Canadian RX-8, then!
Of course this raises the question of whether Canadian RX-8s will also get little extra "bumperettes" like many vehicles do up there to meet your 5 MPH bumper mandate...

The european model has the sunroof (moonroof) opening over the top of the car, not into it. Looks a bit stupid with the roof open, but doesn't impact interior headroom.
