i never really understood fule injector cleaner. i mean i have used it, not in the 8, but in my truck.
i know injectors can get dirty
have you ever tried to get grease, or grime, or gunk of something?
i mean gas itself is a great cleaner.
i would think gas would be the best to use to clear up grime and gunk.
i dunno

Fuel injection cleaners not only clean injectors but also help control the carbon build-up inside the engine. Anything that is beneficial at removing carbon deposits is a definite + for any rotary engine. I highly recommend the BG products as this is what we use in our Mazda service department.

Nope gas itself leaves carbon deposites behind which over time can and will affect a rotary's ability to make good compression (especially when granny driven). I know this a fact based on my many years of ownership of multiple rotary powered vehicles and hands on experiance. Trust me it's cheap insurance (again for those who granny drive).

Can you give your thoughts on which BG product would you recommend for routine/preventative maintainance? On their website I see BG 209 Fuel Induction System Cleaner and BG 207 Deposit Control Fuel Treatment. Then there is the BG Supercharge II. It looks like BG 44K Power Enhancer is more for removing existing deposits? Also, with what frequency would you add?

After using this once, I prefer to use a some cleaner in every tank and keep it clean all the time, rather than letting it get really dirty and then trying to cleaning it up. There are several good ones to choose from that are designed to be used in every tank, but my favorite is Lube Control's "FP Plus for Gasoline" - great stuff that not only cleans, but adds some lubricity as well.

Others to consider also are Lube Control's FP60, Redline SI-1, Lucas UCL, Marvel Mystery Oil (MMO) - All are good cleaners that add some lubricity as well.
You should also consider Premixing for extra lubrication for the apex and side seals of your 8.

Athough "on-car" injector cleaning works ok for some situations, removing the injectors and sending them in for professional service is the best thing. http://kgparts.com/index.php?page=fuelinjectclean
The heat from a rotary engine (Mainly because of the placement of the injectors in relation to the heat) can really cause some problems with injectors... more so than on some piston engines.

What are everyone's thoughts about RedLine products, and specifically their Fuel System Cleaner? I used this on my MX-3 quite often and it seems to do a good job. Anyone use it on their RX-8?

Would you tell me where I can get more information on this? I've been unsuccessful searching on this particular reasoning.

but I will not use it every tank, pick a period of time every couple of months, and just use 1 each time you fill up for 3 times.. Thats what I do.
I tried the STP products but for some reason I dont really trust it. No reason, just my feelings.

I am going to go out on a limb here and guess that your searching did not involve clicking the links I provided??? I explained it in the 5th and 6th paragraphs of the first link. Here... I will post it for you again.

Unless I'm missing something, I don't understand clearly why hotter injectors contribute to clogging.
I guess it's more of a chemistry question than anything.
Is it the nature of olefins to coagulate in heat? I thought waxy stuff congeal in cold, not heat.
Or is it due to the higher rate of evaporation caused by the heat?
