front end structure/rigidity
looking at the front end of the rx-8, it doesn't seem to exactly have a solid bumper like most cars... it has that big mouth opening where u'd think normally the bumper would go..... how would this hold up in a front end collision? it may look aggressive, but looks kinda fragile to me, lik ethere could be potentially more damage in low speed collisions than other vehicles.

actually, most of the structure in front of the wheels of the RX-8 is just there to absorb imact, and the nose was designed as one of those "Injury Minimizing" designs for people who happen to hit pedestrians...
btw, all cars these days are designed to be pretty easily crushable at the front and back, to absorb the energy of the impact.
