But you know what, if MSRP on the 8 was $3-5K higher than it is (sticker price, not mark up) it still would be worth it at that price. But if they can build it for what they are I agree, I'm not gonna pad the dealer's pockets with extra markup. How long do you think it will be before they're ready to bargain below MSRP? I say February 04.

Here are a few pics of my new baby at the dealership. The old MR2 in the first pic is my old car. *sigh* I'm going to miss that car!

Hey frogzapper - congrats on the new car! I'm gonna be trading my MR2 for an RX8 when the UK finally gets this car! ( Mine's a 2002 roadster; MR-S in the States?).
Does the RX8 feel alot heavier than your MR2? I had a Celica VVTLi 190bhp before my MR2 and I guess that the RX8 will feel like a mix between the Celica and the MR2?

Cheers man and congrats on a great car!
Eske
P.s.: Sure, I can't afford an RX-8, but I just got a Diezel VH-4s - German engineering at its best...

Sorry for not answering your question sooner, but I've been trying to put in some more driving time on my new car! Yes, the RX-8 does feel significantly larger and more solid than my old MR2, but it really doesn't feel like a heavy car because it's quite responsive and eager to rev up :D I'm still getting used to the different feel of the clutch and the larger size of the car. With my MR2 it was so easy to slip into any tight space, so having to be mindful of the width and length of my car is a bit of an adjustment for me. The first time I drove my MR2, I loved it and thought it was such a great little car. I have to admit that I didn't feel that instant love the first time I test drove my RX-8, but I'm growing to appreciate it more and more as I drive it, and the additional power and the smooth hummm of the motor as it revs up are intoxicating. :D
Before I found out about the RX-8, I was actually considering the MR2 Spyder, but I just wasn't that keen on getting a convertible. When you get a chance to drive the RX-8 I'll be interested in hearing what your thoughts are!

The black is my favorite of the colors I've seen in person. Have not seen the gray or green. Test drove one this past week for about an hour. The sales guy wanted to drive it as bad as I did. It's everything I hoped for and more. They sold their first two for $3,000 more than sticker, but I'll get GT 6MT with spoiler, CD changer and moonroof deflector (w/o nav) for $31,500. I think it's a bargain.
You don't know what this car is until you drive it. When the digital speedo reads 45 mph and you're just now shifting into second gear after that lovely beep, you will know what you have. This is definitely the car I am buying.
Now, does anyone want to buy a 2001 Yukon so I can get into an RX-8? :p
