2.) I highly doubt I'll ever have to replace my coils until I go crazy with the mods. Coils on most other cars will outlast the coils on an RX-8 a few times over.
3.) If there are hotspots it's probably time and I believe some people are suggesting new coils as often as every 20k miles on the RX-8.

wow, if I had left the traction on I wouldve ran a 17. Seriously? Lol, this is a funny revival, I ran it a few weeks later and got it into the high 14's. Still havent broken 90mph in trap though.

Insanely Yellow
Hey guys, I took my car to the drag strip last night for the first time since Ive owned it (2 years). I had low expectations since it was my first time ever to a drag strip. Overall, my numbers are pretty dissappointing because of my inability to launch .
Conditions of the track- It was 43 degrees outside (very cold track).
My first run- 7K clutch dump, the result was a WHOLE MESS OF WHEEL HOP!! Ive never even had wheel hop launching that high until I was at the track.
Result- 15.6 @89.3 mph
My Second run- 5K Launch about 75% throttle, the result was a WHOLE MESS OF WHEEL HOP!! Even with a less agressive launch I sat there like a moron bouncin my *** end like a rap video.
Result- 15.5 @89.4 mph
Before anyone asks why my speed is so low, I have a grind going into 4th. All and all I had a fun time, saw some sweet cars. I have kuhmo ecstacas on my car that cost $100 per tire so maybe crappy tires and a cold track and inexperience were the culprit. It was fun though.

That said, you're asking the car to do something it's not designed for - rather than going on the straight track - go find one that curves! It's not all about straightline performance with this ride - it's about braking, turning and more.
This baby, on a road course or an autocross track is more fun than playing Wii Mario Cart with naked twin sisters!
Next track outing - go where the RX-8 loves to play. Your local road course or find an autocross!

Huge hole is huge
If Renesis is in any sort of position like me, the nearest drag strip is 30 minutes away, while the nearest road course is 2 hours.... I see where he is coming from on the drag, lol.

This is funny, this thread is so old lol. When I lived in california, sac raceway was like 20 minutes away and I lived in the mountains so there were plenty of curvy roads. I got a nice mix of both . Now my car is sittin in a garage in chicago.
