Ok so all of a sudden I've been reading about this Firmware in the ECM...call me a noob or whatever but what is ECM and how can I tell what Firmware I have for it.

Engine Control Module. It's the computer that manages more stuff in your car than you'd ever imagine.

There's a sticky that tells what the differences are from one version to another. As far as which version you have, next time you're at the dealer you can ask them to check. Since the very latest one was part of a recall, you're entitled to have that.

If you bought your car new, you should have gotten the recall notice and be up to date. If you bought it used, and not from a Mazda dealer, you really should check with Mazda to see if it's had all the recalls done.

naw, a new one came out already

but yeah, check with Mazda, they can tell you if it has been done.
