Finally took the plunge!

Well, after months of research and waiting, I finally took the plunge and bought my own RX-8! My thanks to all of you out there for all the great help. These threads have provided so much information. I knew more about this car before buying it than the SUV I've been driving for 4 years.

So I went for Brilliant Black GT Nav, red/back interior. Just bare enough for me to add the splash guards, rotary accents and possibly strakes I envisioned. Clear corners are a definite must as well. All in good time though, those will be a good May project. Got a great price too.

You'd laugh though to watch me try to learn the manual transmission. Sure, I could have gone automatic, but after 21 years of driving, this old dog needed to learn a new trick. First gear is giving me fits, but I'm confident I'll get the hang of it (and if the snow would stoip falling I could practice more!)

Can't wait for the weather to warm up as I think this will be a very fun spring! If I have any questions, I know where to go. Now if I could only find the sweet spot on that clutch as easily! Gotta go create a signature now to show off the new wheels!

Cheer to all on St. Pats!

Congratulations and welcome to the Forum. Remember, practice makes perfect...and if you can't find 'em, grind 'em...just not too much! K?

Congrats, and welcome to yet another Black Chicago-area RX-8- nice choice! I think I saw you in the MW forum a few weeks back. We're trying to hook up in Schaumburg in the next couple weeks- keep your eye on the forum.

I'll keep my eyes glued to the local forum, I'd definitely be there. Maybe my accents and splash guards will be on by them, I plan to order those today.

Much better this morning on the shifting, finally getting the feel for the clutch that everyone said I would. I would have driven it the 10 min. to the office if the snow hadn't started to fall. Enough with winter already!

Sounds good. It really is the most forgiving clutch/tranny I've ever driven, combined with an engine that doesn't bog or stall easy.

I'm about tired of the snow as well- I decided to go into the office (Schaumburg) today and went through some pretty heavy white stuff... at least it's melting the same day. If they didn't use so much damn salt I wouldn't mind as much...
