I was under the impression that there has always been a new engine viable for release like the 16x... its just that Mazda is waiting for the right time to release it that it will be acceptable to the market not just rotary engine fans...

Seeing as how the last "confirmed" rotary was going to be released in 2017, I'll hold my excitement until it shows up on dealership lots.

 

Last time i read the 16x and RX9 ... if it was to come out it will be competing against the NSX, GTR and possible the new supra... So expect the Car to be close to those price point...

And Mazda wont release the Rotary Engine again until they think its the right time and also whenever they think they have a market to profit from it again...Until then Mazda is using all its resource to the Skyactive-X

Mazda is one of the smallest car companies in Japan, if they release a car it has to sell...thats why they are so focused on driving experience rather than just releasing a car as an appliance

 

As usual, people only read what they want to believe because even the first comment on that page overlooked the second part of the first sentence:
