FINALLY!!!!! (my new ride)
just last night my family and i bought our 2008 40th aniv. rx8!!!!!
made the down payment my self, and i'm getting a job for the monthly payments. first thing done:meguairs wax!!!!! :P pictures don't do this beauty justice. its so mooth to the touch, and shines like no other!!!!! questions, i was looking through the back where i noticed in the hide away jack there are 2 eye loops or w/e. what are those used for? towing with our generous amounts of torque? and lastly, i've always wanted the regular rx8 rims in black, but these rims grew on me, should i powder coat these black or would the 40th rims not pull black off? its at 6k miles! *****anyone know why my pics aren't uploading? =( total meguiars process for me was like 3 hours. 3 i think maybe 4 chips, all as big as an ant. 2 hair line scratches. and i the front bumper has a bit of damage, looks like he hit a curb at like a mile an hour or, went up a ramp too steep. nothing noticeable, repairable. weather guard on right side has a 1cm sag. and thats it for flaws!!! (wow pictures take forever to upload....) |
gratz on the new car
The two hooks are for towing your car if you ever need it. If you look in the top right and left of the front grill you'll see pop out pieces that have threads behind them. If you ever need to have your car towed, use them. If you want to paint or powder coat your rims then do it... anything you do is fine, it's your car! |
Congrats! Lots of people would trade you for those 40th anniversary wheels. They're very nice looking as is IMHO.
|
pics are stil lin the process of uploading. thanks guys!!!! do you think the black 40th aniv. rims will look good though?. i just need some opinons. i think they wont look good in black, and if i can confirm that, i'm gonna trade em for regular 8 rims and a bit of cash hopefully
*****anyone know why my pics aren't uploading? =( |
Congrats and be Safe!
|
Purchase:
Gratz! Welcome! Pics: No idea what method/service you are using, so really can't provide input on it. Wheels: I think you could probably trade 40th AE wheels to someone for their rims +cash, especially stock rims. They are highly desired on here and rarely seen up for sale or trade. If you want to powder coat the 40th AE rims, feel free, it's your car, but if you are unsure how they would turn out and want to go with a different look, you probably wouldn't have to take much time on here to find someone that would trade. I know I would if I had that extra cash available :) |

*****anyone know why my pics aren't uploading? =( Yes, you are better off getting the older rims and painting those black. Must be your lucky day, I just happen to have those in MINT condition, and I'll trade for yours + cash :) Congrats on the purchase! Let the addiction begin!!! |
|
nice ride, you did good.
time for some clear corners, a drop, and some window tint just to start :D: |
Congrats only time I ever saw the 40th version was at LA auto show, good find.
|
That car is hawt! Guess I never paid much attention to the 40th... I like the way they've done the interior, and of course, you got the 09 wheels. Very nice.
|
^the 09 wheels are 19's tho...same design
well that is if it's an R3... :eyetwitch |

lol, sorry man, I'm a bit out of it tonight............I'll just leave it at that :)
|
Congratulations!!! I like this combination of exterrior and interrior colours for anniversary models. :)
|
I don't think the red interior with Silver Exterior match. Thats why we are all different.
Welcome to the club. |

thanks for all the comments guys!
mods: coat hanger mod (its too hot to get the dang dip stick) tint coming soon, and either the anniversary rims in black or the regular 8 rims in black, help me decide!!!! oh and a sub in the car like renensis07's set up! btw, how much oil do i add if its at the first dot? |
Do you mean the bottom line on the dipstick? IIRC it's a quart difference between the low (bottom) and full (top). I'm not 100% on that though.
|
Congrats bro, looks good. love the interior

can anyone confirm? if its a quart difference?
(it goes line, dot dot dot line for my dipstick, it might be because of the year difference?) oh and will clear corners look good? i hate the orange, and have no idea what to do :( |

Each dot is about 1/2 quart. Here's how to read the dipstick:

Grats on the car man! You should try out some Rejex when you've got about a day where you don't need the car (it needs time to cure). It's kind of like Zaino for newbs and impatient people - the finish is nearly as glossy and durable, but it doesn't take 20 applications over the course of a weekend. :p:
Have fun with it, be safe. Take it out for some performance driving lessons, it's both fun and it'll get you to learn the ins and outs of the car. It sounds like you're willing to take good care of it and you've done your research, you're going to love it! :D: |
nice color, I got a mint one as well:) I really like the 40th seats being leather on the back instead of plastic which is why I was ok with the cloth in mine.
|
Congrats on the new whip!

nice interior
|

|
thanks all once again. i'll stay away from stickers for now, big question though
**my engine makes a very aggresive sound like a bunch of shaking when i shut it off, is that normal? |
I think those loops aren't for towing as in towing your car over long distances. It's for temporary towing, as in towing your car out of a ditch.
|
yeah the towing thing was resolved, also. its sounds a bit violent when i turn the key to just on (not starting it) and just to turn it off
|
Congrats Anthony! :)
|
thanks thanks! ! :D :D
also, i don't know which forum this would go under, but would anyone know how to fix this? http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...9/IMG_1214.jpg the hangy thing, not the white stuff, the white stuff is actually just dirt (it just rained) flash made it white. |
try some double sided tape made for body moldings
|
will everyone check on the above for their rx8?
i have it on both sides, right under the driver and passenger. there seems to be no damage. looks like a manufacturing defect to me. i know im picky, cmon, i just got it and love it, but do you guys think warranty would cover this? |
mine didn't have that problem...I pulled them off when I installed my side skirts anyways.
|
hmmmmmm. because its perfectly even on both sides, and i see no reason for it to sag. i'll take more pictures later. im tired already. btw can i rip those off without adding side skirts?
it just bugs the hell out of me. |
yes, but I wouldn't personally....
worth a shot by taking it to mazda if it bothers you that much...or just do like I suggested with the double sided tape made for body moldings |
this doesn't need to turn into a flame fest....
don't stir up sh*t White Shadows and make assumptions when you obviously don't have the facts straight. |
I must be weird...I have never wrecked ANY car. Lol :)
