Congrats on the new RX8 - tell your dad to take good care of the new 8 - since you would probably like him to turn it over to you in about 3 years or so........

Congratulations to the family. I know you will have a lot of fun riding in it. Tell your dad to be REAL careful. Those Silvers are a special breed! And welcome to the club. Get you dad on here so we can talk. :D

well, hes a car enthusiast so cars he's owned for 5 years as a daily driver look like they have one year of cautious usage on them :D Also this car will have 2 years of weekend/second car driving on it so by the time i get it it will be pretty much new(probably with mods too) :D
Im glad i was able to turn him onto that car because i'd never be able to afford a 35,000 dollar car if i wanted the car anytime within around 7 years(i still have 7 years of schooling to get through before i get into the workforce)
Heh heh, im so excited i cant wait :D

Congrats, I'm also glad to see there are still young people around who understand the concept of working to get what they want :D
Hope you help your old man to enjoy the car.

Congrats on the 8. Pop's got some taste, huh?
Since he's a car enthusiast you should watch him when he drives (with you in the car with him). I can't tell you how much I learned from my dad (former motorcycle/car racer) in his cars. Watch a perfectly executed heel-toe and you'll spend the rest of your life trying to match it. :p
Also, tell him to come on this forum to learn about the 8. We'll try to talk him into bringing you to auto-x or something and letting you take a spin. It IS a good place to learn about driving dynamics. :D

heh, i know the basics of driving now, and a autox experience would be awesome. he isnt into any motorsports, but i think he may like Autocross :D. hes been driving for a very long time and its his main hobby, so he has lots i can learn from him.
He's not much of a forum person, but i'll see what i can do.
I originally turned him onto the car, but he already like it a bit, and wanted a new weekend car to replace his current weekend car which will become his daily driver. he doesnt actually know in depth information about the rotary engine, which i am going to slowly educate him about. I know way to much about these cars in the first place as well as all of the mods and aftermarket(been reading these forums forever when im not on rx7club, just dont post often :P)

When you show him this forum, show him the technical section first. Explain to him how much information he can get about the car. Show him about the flooding issue and things like that. He will then see that this site is not just a place to chat but also a place to learn, ask questions and to share experiences. Then he will think you are quiet a knowledgeable 15 year old who is genuinely interested in the proper care and details of the new 8. He will see you really care about the car and its maintenance. Dad's like that.
