I thought the drive shaft was steel wrapped in CF for appearance. Can anyone confirm the drive shaft is in-fact made of CF?

two months ago I would have agreed with you. However, once I took it in for service and had it charged up.. now, it can get so cold I have to turn it down!

The only time it doesn't work well is in while the engine is in high RPMs or while idling. Otherwise , if it's good on coolant, it works great.

the CAT has platinum in it......and here i was thinking the dealership was raping me when i had mine replaced. nice to know now.... oh well i still think they overcharged me. good find.

How often do you show people the underside of your car? Outside of the ricer community CF actually does have legitimate uses - it's not just for show. The drive shaft in MT RX-8s is in fact made of CF, not just wrapped in it.

Kinda like the find about the heated rear view mirrors.. I live in MA so using a scrapper on those mirrors is a pain in the *** on any vehicle, even my old truck with f'ing huge *** mirrors. Anyone have a off the top of their head price figure for the heating element hehe.. lol..

The glass with the heat elements can be ordered from the dealership for $30 each side. ($60 total)

Might want to ask www.Mazdaparts.com or Rosenthal if they can get it for you.

If you have the Touring package it should already have it. Just have to flip the rear defrost on and it will defrost the side mirrors.

If you have a base model then you can replace the glass insert for the side mirrors with the upgraded insert.

If the seat heaters are there and you don't have heated seats does that mean I can tap into the power for an additional 12V outlet in the center console?

I'm going to have some work to do this weekend. If I get it done I will post on the DIY.

The cat would be under the emissions warranty; probably at least a 5 to 7 year item. Why in the hell would you have to pay a red cent for replacement of said part?!

Does anyone know if the sport models have the heated side mirrors? It's not needed that often in TX but it's always nice to have.

Why?

Anyhow, is there a heat element that can be added into the seats, or would I have to buy new seats to take advantage of the pre-existing wiring?

so I tried the speaker thing (good for wow'ing friends!) and the TSC/DSC total defeat. Once I got TSC/DSC totally defeated, I couldn't turn it back off. It reverted once I turned the car off, but is there any way to turn it back on while still driving? I don't want to have to pull over and kill the engine every time I stop playing FATF 3 (j/k).

Nope. This is technically sending a fault to the ECU, but, it doesn't send it into limp mode. You cannot turn it back on after fully defeating it, without turning the car off and on.
