Which Exterior Color?

Hi RX8Club community. I've been stalking the forums for quite some time waiting and hoping for a chance to own one of these majestic cars and I'm almost there. If everything goes according to plan and maybe just a hint of luck I may be able to buy a RX8 (Maybe new) in six months, but I want to keep my eyes open for any deals that may arrive. The reason I'm posting here is I have a few questions you guys might be able to answer for me.

First off, I'm having a very hard time deciding on which color, if given the choice, I would like. Below were the main ones I'm looking and their pros and cons.

White- Pros: Love the look. Original. Cons: Shows Dirt. Impossible to match the Whitewater Pearl if its scratched.

Black- Pros: Also looks amazing. Cons: Shows Dirt. Scratches Easily.

Red- Pros: Classic great color. Cons: Cop Magnet. Everyone has Red.

Silver- Pros: Resists Dirt and Scratches the best. Cons: Doesn't catch my eye as much as the others.

Please give me your opinion I am at a complete loss.

Second Question:
I went to the dealer today and they said that the Red Leather Interior is being discontinued. True or False?

Third Question:
If I do go used (Manual Transmission), is there any year/model I should avoid or any I should look for?

Thanks in advance for the help in advance.

yellow is the best looking color for the 8, but good luck finding one...but if i had to choose between the colors you listed i'd go with black....the 8 in white, silver, and that sorry excuse for a red are ugly

Yah, the Copper Red was actually my number one choice but I have no idea how I would find one. Thank you Mazda for making the best color for only one year.

I don't own an RX-8, but for me the best looking color is white. The RX-8 is a little busy to begin with so I think the whire compliments it very well by toning it down a touch. Also, having owned a white car it doesn't show dirt nearly as much as you'd think.

Black is a PITA and though it looks great when clean I will probably never own another black car since it only stays clean for a day after you wash it.

Red just doesn't do much for me unless we're talking somethign exotic like a Ferrari.

Silver, it seems like half the cars on the road now are silver.

Lastly, Copper Red is a decent color, but it just doesn't fit a sportscar IMO and looks more at home on a sedan or SUV.

Red is not a cop magnet. Ask a cop which cars he notices most, and he'll tell you white. As you're driving today, take a look in your rearview mirror and guess what color stands out most!?

The very first car I ever bought brand-new, back in the '70's, was silver. I've always preferred silver vehicles; it's got a high-tech appeal that I like quite a bit. The fact that it doesn't catch the eye as much as a bright primary color is also a bonus. I call it "under the radar" silver. If you don't notice it as much, neither does the Highway Patrol (not that I condone driving fast or any such adrenaline-inducing activity...). It also reflects sunlight very efficiently and doesn't get as hot in summer as some of the dark reds, blues, black, and grey.

Of course everyone likes something different and ultimately you have to please yourself. If your choice has no practical reasons behind it, but merely reflects a personal preference, that's just fine too.

While my RX-8 is silver, I really don't think that the car looks bad in any of the colors offered by Mazda so-far. Had it not been possible for me to buy silver, I would probably have gone with white as my second choice.

But silver will give you an additional 10hp.

Tell you what...............don't forget about that Stormy Blue, that's a really nice color. Had it been out when I bought mine, that would've been my choice. Not the Winning Blue, but the Stormy!
2nd question.................red leather? Ugh!
3rd question.................Only my opinion, but at this point, I would go older than an 05, but that's just me.

http://www.snopes.com/autos/law/redcars.asp

Some interesting facts there. If the cops notice the white cars most, they're not getting most of the tickets according to snopes.

Personal experience flies in the face of one of the snopes statements, the one about the cops pulling-over the car exceeding the speed limit the most. Pulled over once, I complained to the judge that I was going the slowest of all the cars near me and the officer should have gone after the fastest. The judge replied something to the effect that "there are many fish in the river, and you can't always catch the biggest or the fastest."

I never could find that legal precedent in a law book.

Another myth. Only repainted silver rice blows up. Factory silver is flawless!

White is easy to keep clean if you keep a good coat of wax on the paint.

I personally like the blue (like the one from the xmen movie). But I ended up getting silver cuz they didn't have any in stock around my area and had to choose one off their lots for the price I got.

I think the black hides the curves and intricacies of the exterior.

yellow would be nice if you can find one...I'd guess that was the rarest colour, except for that nordic green which looks ugly

Ask your girl friend. Ask your Mom.

Get real!

This is a car you will drive for a few years. Pick it yourself. Don't procastinate. Just get down to the dealer today and test drive one. Then buy it.

My last few cars have all been black, favourite colour. I am a high school teacher and I wanted a colour that would sort of go "under the radar" like Jethro Tull says when parked in the school lot. I didn't want anything too flashy that would bring a lot of attention. This way, when it's dirty, it's not overly attention-grabbing which is fine by me. Anybody who looks closely will see there's a HOT car underneath. But when it's clean, it gleams.

I really like ALL the other colours but black is neato', maybe less of a heat-score on the road.

As far as interior goes, I would have liked black or black/red but I got sand. Still trying to get used to that. Looks classy ... sometimes too classy for the BB, imo.

Personally, I think all colors of the 8 look great. I own a Brilliant Black and love it, does get dirty, but i dont mind. I love the white and the red as well. But after seeing many pictures on this forum, i think if i hadn't gone with the black, I would have got the winning blue. Beautiful color IMO. This car has alot of distinct curves, Black hides them a little bit, while white & all other colors make them stand out more.

All in all, we all have are opinions, get what you think looks the most attractive to you. No matter what color you get, you will still love the 8.

It's not about the color, it's about the feel. and this car just so happens to feel amazing.

For resale, silver is the safest colour. White is the current "in" colour. Avoid yellow as the potential buyers for this colour is very small. There was an article on automotive colour by ICI not long ago.
I like the grey colour myself, but not easy to hide dirt.
