Exterior Accessories Stolen
It seems like the RX8's kinda have bad luck...whether it be envy or just hot on the black-market type thing. But my front "ground effects" plastic grill got stolen...along with my right fog-lamp cover (plastic cover/cubby). I am obviously very upset, not only being violated...but these parts aren't cheap when bought thru the dealership. Anyone know of a good Website where I can get these either stock or aftermarket? Thanks!

Thanks for the replies!
My RX8 is red. I am not totally sure what the technical name for the parts are. It is the black plastic grill at the very bottom, it goes behind the "rotary emblem". And then, I do not have fog lamps, so there are plastic covers in the cubby's. The right one is the only one that got stolen.
Anyhoo, these are stock parts...but I am obviously wanting to save as much money as possible to replace them. It looks funny right now being able to see the "insides" of my car. That, and I love my RX8...I want it to look perfect. Any input on where to get OEM or aftermarket parts would be appreciated!

I feel for you bud.
What degenerate RX8 driver (I'm assuming) would steal accessories from another owner. Considering the 8 is not a "cheap" car, the only reason the thief stole the accessories is to use it for his own.. but he can afford the payments? What comes around goes around.

Sorry for you bad luck... stupid jackasses. Here are a couple dealer parts stores online that will probably be as cheap as you'll find anywhere:
http://www.trussvillemazda.com/PartsStore/index.cfm
http://www.finishlineperformance.com/rx8/index.html
I've been a happy customer of both for many years now.
I forgot to add that you're not going to find the parts you're looking for on their websites, but if you call them up they'll take care of you.

What a dumbass thief! If it is another 8 owner then what a shame. He has the money to get an 8 but not enough to buy accessories? And to steal the fog lamp cover? come on!

If it was a fellow 8 driver, it would be pretty dumb to steal *one* light cover. Go around town looking for an 8 with only one cover on. If found, take appropriate actiion.
Are you sure they were stolen and didn't just fall off? How secure are they on the car?

Maybe the low life that stole your parts is surfing this website as I type??
I would check eBay and the sales forum on this website. You never know.

Check some of the local Mazda dealers. Some are putting MS stuff on the 04s but mostly the 05s and they might have those there in the shop. Car is too new to check any yards and yes you might find "your" parts on E-Bay. Taking one blank light cover sounds a bit odd. Might be a couple of kids. Was you car parked on a lighted street, garage, supermarket. Where was it that someone had time to remove those parts?

See if your local Police can search accident reports for a front end collision involving an 8. There can't have been too many accidents like that. The car isn't exactly dime-a-dozen.
Maybe a local autobody shop did the major repairs, but remembers the owner insisting on replacing the the plastic trim pieces himself to cut costs.

I had 1977 Suzuki GS550 motorcycle whose plastic sidecovers were stolen while the bike was parked for less than 15 minutes at a small town parking lot. It cost me $50 a piece to replace the covers and the badges. I was simply disgusted.
More than likely, the covers were stolen by someone who wanted/needed them. The soft unlocked removable saddlebags on the motorcycle were undisturbed along with the laptop that was inside!
I thought about this as I installed the $85 polished aluminum rear rotary emblem that's attached using mere double-stick tape.

Most people around ym old house in San Diego would always have their badges and whatbot stolen off their Honda's and Acura's...people were atracted to them so much i guess they just decided it would be easier to just steal them off someone's car than to go buy them for $10.
Truly pathetic...i feel for you buddy, i HATE that feeling!

Well, to answer some of your questions:
Yes, these accessories of mine that are "missing" wouldn't have just fallen off -- they were definitely stolen. They are screwed on -- very good. However, the fog-lamp covers are two top screws inside the cubby...so I guess someone could easily unscrew those off. Perhaps they got scared off, and that's why they only stole one.
As for the ground effects grill...the guy at the dealership was baffled how they got that off, considering the screwed are on the top back corner under the car.
I have been racking my brain as to where I could've been when this happened. I normally park in well-lit areas, I live in a good neighborhood in the country, but there are a few times I've been downtown during the daytime for a few doctor's visits, but I thought surely someone wouldnt have the guts to steal something in broad daylight, but who knows...?
Either way, it was either an RX8 owner (which I didnt think -- unless they are just some thug that sells drugs to make his car payment -- LOL) or someone selling the parts on Ebay. But the funny thing is, they havent put them on Ebay yet, because that's where I looked to see if I could find a cheaper replacement for the parts.
Thanks for all of your support and helping me find these parts a bit cheaper than going to the dealership. :D
