Exhaust systems

OK hears the deal, on my old car i put an exhaust that was so throaty and loud that it eventually started to rattle my interior at certain rpms. Not to mention how annoying it got after a while. I currently have an rx8 and i want to put an after market exhaust on it e.g. borla, greddy, hks ect. What i dont want is the rattling and the noise. i just want the look and the power and possibly a nice sound coming from them without making me turn my radio all the way up so it will drown out the exhaust level. If you have bought an aftermarket exhaust and have had previous experiences like mine please tell me how you like it.

Love my Greddy! :D Can't say I notice any power changes. I was terrified it was going to be too loud; heck it's not loud at all. It has a nice low tone, and is smoooooooooth I'm incredibly pleased with the Greddy. I worked with Huff at VividRacing.com. He's a member here too :D

Exhausts will get loader no matter what. The packing material in the canisters will deteriorate. I use to have a civic with a Apexi exhaust and when I first got it, it was smooth and had a mild tone. After a few years, it got very throaty!

I like the sound of my Borla. I also get many admiring looks from others. The fit was first-class and the warranty is impressive. I have no rattles. The problem is that many of us who replace parts on our own forget to make sure the fit is proper, in all respects, and THEN tighten the nuts/bolts, etc.

What you describe as your concerns, were exactly the same concerns the product developers at Racing Beat said they focused on when developing their exhaust system for the RX8. I was at their facility and talked to Jim Mederer himself about this and he stated they tested all the competitor's exhausts to see what they had to compete with, and he said the Borla was the one they liked the best. However he said they drove around with a decibel meter inside the car checking for sound levels at all speeds; especially freeway speeds where you might be sitting at a certain rpm range for a long time on a trip.

They developed their exhaust using the above testing method to make sure it wasn't annoying or buzzy at any rpm. He showed me a large rack with dozens of prototypes that didn't pass their requirements. The final design is beautiful and sounds great; smooth, deep, throaty but not obnoxious. I'm getting mine installed on Tuesday.

Just my recommendation for what it's worth.
