Everyday use................Is it practical

Have my 2003 model RX-8 on order.

While I drive an 87 Luce (13Bt) for an everyday car, its time to update.

How are you guys finding your RX-8's for everday use. Are they proving practical or (like the RX-7) will they be religated to a weekender sports car.....??

Jeez, what about the car would make it impractical?

Rear seat w/four doors, generous trunk, if you need more practicality, buy a minivan. :D

I bought mine to be a daily driver. It is comfortable enough & handles wonderfully.

There are no known possible issues that would keep the RX-8 from being what it should be --- driven.

I bought mine as a daily driver. It's got plenty of room (unless you have a huge family). You won't have any problems.

I LOVE my RX-8. But these first couple hundred miles the MPG hasnt been all that. Of course, it has been hot, humid and rainy so I have been using the AC all the time, and I am still getting used to the rotary.

Just keep in mind your fuel costs are going to be higher than normal. Once you get that fact set in yer head, everything else is just awesome.

I got flak from some people (e.g. my mother) when I got my '92 Prelude. "You should have bought a practical car." I told them it was practical - small, easy to drive and park, better mileage than a minivan, room for two people and their luggage, back seat great for groceries, and I never had to be the designated driver (because I could only carry one passenger).

By these standards, my RX-8 is a bit less practical, because the back seat is big enough that I might have to be the designated driver sometimes. :p

Trunk volume OK, but opening is letter box!

Gave a friend a lift to SFO this morning. One large, one small bag and a wakeboard. Alhough the large bag would easily have fitted inside the trunk, it was not possible to get it in.

Oh, well we made the big bag a backseat passenger (together with the wakeboard) and got there with plenty of time to spare (no cops on I280 on a Sunday morning

I went to Ace Hardware yesterday and bought one of those Rubbermaid 36 garden tool tool racks - that fit into the trunk easily. I also bought a sidewalk ice scraper (for burying a wire), which fit beautifully through the pass-thru. My kids fit in the back seats wonderfully - and they LOVE it back there. Right now in my trunk I have my twins' booster seats, 2 towels, my gym bag, a flight helmet bag, and a raincoat. There's still plenty of room on there for other odds and ends.
