My 8 has 120k on it. Third transmission, 2nd engine, two people backing into it, and so on. Am I just one of the unlucky ones? You can call it that. If I had to do it all over again, would I?-ABSOLUTELY. If that is the price I have to pay for a car that is as awesome as an 8, then so be it. Do I like the problems? No, but there are more expensive habits. Sometimes stuff happens in life but a KIA FORTE??!!!! Negative chief.

 

 

Actually my 8 turned out just fine,

perfect compression and trans was rebuilt, broke again, and fixed,
i still have it and am selling it soon to buy a 2003 honda RC-51

My point was that most rx-8 owners have major problems.

If you make claims, produce evidence. 70% of engines don't see 60k? Did you do a full statistical analysis? The first couple years were the worst and I'm not sure if they were even that bad. Even if you look at only the series 1 RX-8's averaged out, your numbers are probably WAY off.

You bought a car that you didn't know anything about. When you first posted you claimed that you had been a fan of the car, despite the fact that you apparently knew nothing about it. Suddenly, you have some issues with your car and now you're a know it all about how terrible these cars are.

I mean this in the nicest way possible... Almost everything you have posted on this forum makes you look like an idiot. If you know it's a fact, produce the evidence supporting your claims. If it is a fact, it can be proven. Until then, you're talking out of your ***.

Honestly, there is one thing I don't ever understand, about ANY car forum..

If you dislike the car, why jump on the forums for it? I'd rather spend my time surfing the forums of the one(s) I do enjoy, than making a bad reputation on forums I don't care about.

I'll admit, I have no facts, but for the most part, think of how people only voice out when something goes wrong. You always hear about the worse end. People expect good from what they buy, so when it provides, they're satisfied and generally keep to themselves. However, the moment something wrong at all happens, they go into a frenzy about it. It's practically human nature.

Not trying to feed the trolls, I just never understand why they exist. Well, I know why 4chan exists, but there are so many other trolls out there, to where it's just like, are you for real?

Most of the RX8 owners are living in fantasyland.
1st my car has way more then just a crack dashboard. Say about $8,000 in repairs
Also maybe do alittle reasearch about the 2012 Kia Koup, see what the experts are saying. Don't judge KIA from say 5-10 years ago.

Have fun with your 16 MPG, and replacing the engine after 60,000
Go to the mazda dealer and see how many RX-8 are in the shop

You had this experience because you bought a car with "$8000" needed in repairs. Which is a gross overestimate.

Have fun with your shitty car and feel free to leave the forums whenever you want (which is hopefully.... NOW).

 

A) Driving my 8 over 83,000 miles in 4 years with only a couple of minor problems, and only recently having some larger items fail (original factory clutch and a rear shock) is NOT a fantasy. It's a reality.

B) My piston engined Miata and a prior Corolla both have had engine failure while my 8 is still running strong with good compression (how is that for playing the odds?)

C) Actually I get 20-24mpg.

D) My 8 has been paid off for 18 months and costs me so ridiculously little in insurance that there is no financial or practical reason to get rid of it and it still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. Why would I care about the resale value of something I'm not going to sell?



I'm not saying your issues didn't exist, but if you believe yourself to have free license to claim that all 8s are garbage without being "in a fantasy land", then we have license to claim that they are not garbage without being "in a fantasy land". And I particularly would have license to claim that all piston engines are complete fragile time bombs waiting to completely disintegrate and Toyota makes horrifically unreliable engines.
