Electrical advice.

When I plug in a solar battery charger, the RX8 turns on the ignition. It must detect a positive charge and turns on the power.

Does anyone know how to disable this?

thanks

Most solar panel's I've seen/used hook up just like a battery charger, right to the posts.

That could be a problem if you're not ready for it, and the car is in gear when you plug it in!

Cool Backfeed.....

I checked the wiring diagrams, the socket is normally isolated from the rest of the vehicle by the Accessory relay - when you put power into it you are just "backfeeding" all the accessories, the radio, display and trunk opener.

Yes, but they turn on, and are using much more power than the solar panel is putting out. ( thru the cig lighters ) Direct to the car battery I didn't try, but that would be inconvenient.

Same thing happens when you use some inverters. Residual in the capacitors make my radio run for about 30 seconds after I turn the key off.
