Drivability issues after topping off oil?

Yesterday afternoon my car was running a tad rough. I had the oil changed last tue. at the dealership. So i figured the oil was a bit low. I checked when i got home, and low and behold it was a notch above the L line.

I bought a case of oil from the dealership, the mazda 5w20 oil the 8 uses, figured why not for 24$. So i opened one up, and put some in, checked level, put somemore in until it was 3/4 to the top line. Put the oil lid back on, and left for the girlfriends. I noticed alot of bogging in lower rpms, and not a smooth rev to redline anymore. it feels like the car is fighting me past 6K rpms. Whats going on?

How high should you fill the oil on the stick?
What could be going on?
Anyone else have this happen?

I have the M flash btw. thanks

That doesn't sound like an oil problem to me. It could be a burnt coil. I'm sure someone here will have a good idea of what it is.

Could be spark plugs, (think the manual says to change at 30000 miles) check manual on that though!!
could be bad Gas

The car has 6800 miles on it, so im no where near 30K

When i topped off the oil i had half a tank of the same gas in it. it was ammoco 93

I just filled up this AM with exxon 91, still feels the same. grr

I would take it in for sure. Almost a qt low after 1 week is too much. Low oil shouldn't cause the engine to run rough. You got another problem.

reddragonmd, I can't help with your main problem, sorry, but you just wrote:

There's a TSB for this. If you haven't had it done, check the TSB list stickied at the top of the Tech Forum.

I talked to James, he said if you were Driving on low oil for a while the Bearings (Engine injects oil in the Bearings) in the rotors are damaged, thats a warrenty issue since mazda did not refill the oil, They probably gonna have to replace the whole engine if thats the case.

How about this - are you pushing the dipstick all the way into its tube? If not, maybe the level was correct to start with, now it's way-overfilled. ?!?

I know, it sounds farfetched, but hey...

Ya, check the 8 into the dealership and see what they say. We are all interested in seeing whats going on, and if it is time for a new engine. Wow, a whole new engine with no cost to you would be nice :D as long as you dont get to many hassles hopefully not though!!!!!!!!
