Don't turn off traction control if you're a dumbass.

Good to see that your ok, cars can always be repaired/replaced.

Why buy a rwd car if you dont want to go sideways?

I love turning off TC in the rain. =)

You live in Sweden, people over there are sane drivers who undergo extensive training before you get your license as oppose to us Americans who lacks any sort of driving training, common sense, and any form of intelligence behind the wheel. GO AMERICA!

Hahaha. Oh, man, this thread is amusing. So much cluelessness...

The first step to saving your *** in an RX-8: Ditch the utter scarily bad POS Potenza RE040s, and get a real tire. GS-D3s are my continued recommended tire of choice.

Second step to saving your *** in an RX-8: Do a ton of autocross and learn how to control a RWD car. Not only is it actually a ton of fun, it'll teach you how to save your own ***. DSC can help save a lot of things, but nothing helps like the combination of good slide-saving reflexes and DSC together.

(DSC was turned off in the taking of this photograph. Also, it was damp and I was on 710s. I saved the slide and went on to win PAX at the event. ;-))

I hated the RE040's on the RX8, and I hated them as the OEM tire on the GTO. Linear grip and progressive limits??? Not with those pieces of crap. Snap oversteer handling, and wheel hop like a ****. Crap. CRAP TIRES!!! Hate em.

Ok, thanks.

I don't think that I've ever seen the DSC light come on, even when taking curvy 35 MPH on ramps at 55 MPH. Man, this car has some sweet handling (even with the apparently disliked OEM tires...).

Glad u are ok.
I take a circular ramp merging on to the South Florida Turnpike going home from work. It starts with an angle up and then drifts out for water drainage. I keep my system on and am careful even with that when the road angles down. I have been followed by two idiots, one in a BMW and another in a 350 Z that almost lost it trying to keep up with me. I was surprised how good the 8 can take this ramp if you use your head and do not think you are Juan Manuel Fangio. When it's wet, I take it slow.

Don't get mad at me because you can't use a large word in proper context.

There's no one to be angry at but yourself.

My 2004 RX8 is completely stock except for a K&N drop in. Almost new Kumhos SPT's. Wonder how much better it would be with a few suspension mods.

I wasn't trying to bait you, just isentropically letting you know you may want to look that one up before using it again. Not a big deal. I didn't think you take it so personally.

Sorry for the threadjack.

Sorry for the threadjack.
I can tell you really want me to take it personally, lol, given not one but two mentions by you of the possibility already. Honestly I'm playing with you.
However, you should do a little more research yourself before giving someone advice on how to use a word next time. Here's a hint: the word adiabatic doesn't only have to be used in a thermodynamics context.
BTW good quick lookup and incorrect usage of a related term there. I hope you can see the irony in that statement.
But yes we better stop the hijack in 3, 2, 1.

My 2 cents: What's the point of using big words if the audience cannot understand? Words should help clarify, not obfuscate things.

OK, 3-2-1.

with a move like that, you probably would have crashed even with DSC on

Another "winner" statement.

DSC isn't there to keep people driving like retards safe. DSC is there for the times when you are driving responsibly and come across an unforeseen event. The only reason to drive around 24/7 with the DSC off is because you know at some point you'll want to flex your e-peen around a girl/guy and do something stupid with the car while on the road.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe you can give me 1 good reason why you would drive around on city streets with DSC off all the time?

... unless you get a BJ while driving right?

But seriously, it's not even comparable. I think a good practice should be:

1) go to driving school and learn how to drive a RWD without DSC.

2) Put DSC on and leave it on, always, in case one of the many many things you didn't learn in driving school should happen. There are a couple of other threads around the forums where people have suffered similar fates as the OP.

I always have DSC on and never even think about it. You can still get the tail out a little and have plenty of fun with it on, at least enough for me to get a kick once in a while.

That pic is awesome. Have been meaning to comment on it.

I had an mitsu eclipse for about 4 years before I bought my 8. I drove the mitsu without the DSC on for 4 whole years and never got in any accident.......I even took it up to the mountains to snowboard .....:D

Here's the reason why I didn't have it on.....

Cuz mitsu didn't have DSC!!! hahaha...and no ABS either... and I'm still alive... whatcha think about that???

O..and my dad drove this crappy corolla with no traction control, no abs, no power steering....for 12 years......never got in any accident ......and he's still alive :P

The problem with young peeps these days is that they rely on technology too much and think they're invincible with all these safety features they have on their cars........

It's not the car or what it has and what not.....it's the person who drives makes it all happen...!!!
