i dont think you can if you have a cat of any kind..........but stock exhaust and racepipe yes....

 

speaking of flames.......what do I do to have blue flames shoot out? Like that Ferrari in Miami Vice movie?? lol .......I heard that you actually have to buy a flame thrower or something that uses a set of spark plugs. Not sure though...it's just what I heard....they say regular flame throwers just shoot big yellow flames which is totally tacky and lame!....I want blue flames!!! any idea? ......

ya its pretty easy to get ur 8 to shoot flames.

running 100+octane fuel is the easiest.

I personally have got it to shoot just by doing what most the others have said. Get it warmed up, not just a lil 2 minute warm-up wait 5 minutes be patient. Then rev it all the way to you hear that pop then drop it and do it again and the pop should be a lil louder and u should hear some people go "ooooooo.... ahhhhhhh"

 

not to sound stupid or anything.........where do I get 100+ octane fuel?? or you're just pulling my leg? ...I can't really tell on here.......hahaha!....

Not that I'm actually going to use it or anything though......i'm just wondering........

I was following a friend that had the RP high flow cat on his car. At night I could see a nice blue glow come out of his exhaust when he shifted. I've never seen it with a stock cat equipped car. It should do it all the time on a car with a midpipe. And you shouldn't need special gas to do it.

 

Since i upgraded my flywheel and clutch and midpipe, i can just hop in my car in the morning and rev up to 7500 real slow when shifting and mine will spit fire.

 

i did it once or twice with a stock cat and magnaflow cat-back. wasn't anything i could brag about though

I can assure you that was a cat-less midpipe mated to that exhaust. mine certainly did not sound like a fart can civic.

 

I was finally able to do it like 4 days later after I started this thread, like everyone said, I guess my car just wasn't warm enough yet at the time

but if I really want to increase to 100 oct, I'll just get those bottle from advances auto part, they sell those booster all over the place and are featured in nopi and stuff....I assume they work, may also kill your engine I guess

but, ya, I still haven't been able to get it to shoot flame during a shift however, it seems like that the only way I can get the car to shoot flame is to bounch around 8k 9k rpm for like 2 seconds.

 

I dont see what 100 Octane would change..theres no more energy to consume in that, than 87...just a higher resistance to ignition, which goes against why fuel would want to spontaneously combust.

Also..those cans of octant booster, raise your fuel like..5 points lets say.

And you're paying a ton of cash per gram for whats really in there to raise octane a fraction of a point with.

Get some toluene from the hardware store, and hit Google...if youre REALLY interested.

 

i took the sound out of the video because it was shitty sounding cell phone, but you can see the flames i had with a single resonated MP and exoticspeed s1-t exhaust..

Higher octane does not resist ignition, its more resistant to detonation.
The higher the octane rating the slower and more evenly the mixture burns. The whole idea behind this is that with a higher octane fuel, the mixture is burnt more efficiently resulting in pushing the rotor longer during combustion.

People often have the misconception that running higher octane will give them some sort of performance increase. This is wrong.
Higher octane gives you the ability to run higher boost levels, timing, nitrous.

Now you say "well it burns slower so i should run lower octane".
The lower octane will actually burn faster, and not as complete. This is BAD for high performance engines because it greatly increases the chance of pre-ignition/detonation.
You should know that this is horrible for the rotary engine as it is any engine.

Second, fuel does not spontaneously combust.

Maybe you should do some research first ehy?

 

In addition, incomplete burn will result in more CO as an exhaust gas, and in turn, more carbon.

Brother was behind me tonight and we got on it to pass a few drunks or slow cars lol and he said I was shooting blue flames out of my exhaust...All I have is a hks legamax...no midpipe ...guessing backfire... :P

 

Just make sure the car is warm and run it to redline in a gear, say second. And during deceleration stab the throttle real quick a few times above 5000 rpm. And boom boom boom. flash flash flash.

You should see mine when I let off of a Nitrous pull around 9 grand. and stay lightly in the throttle. Flames roll out the back!
