People still brag about racing on straights on public roads? Wow, us canyon folks would be mighty interested to know that driving in a straight line is considered fun.

well then you would be interested to know that dropping the pedal on a 300 hp 300ft/lbs Torque buick grand national getting shoved hard into the seat, reaching 60 mph in a little over 4 and a half seconds and watching a corvette grow smaller and smaller in the mirrors IS ONE HELL OF ALLOTA FUN!!!!!!
:D :D :D try it you'll like it :p

Point well taken.
However, I'd point out that a Buick Grand National (*swooon*) or any of the speed records you've posted aren't being done on public roads by people who'd consider cars like ours performance cars.

Evo8 v Rx8 on Glendale blvd = Apples
GN v LS1 on 1/4 = oranges

Do you have the GN? if so, you are my new best buddy.

From a 5 mph roll it might be pretty close for a while. 3rd gear pulls hard in the solara

Incidentally, I saw that you could buy them in that Forza Motorsports game I am addicted too. I am going to have to do one up and kick some ***. :D

I take it as a compliment that everyone uses our cars as a kill. It's a compliment on how most people pretend to beat us. I understand that they're cars that will beat us hands down. But when someone with a celica or srt shoot the crap out of there mouths.... it makes me laugh.

The only way is to view real races.... as stated above.

no it was my step father's. I used to drive it once in awhile. it was a blast as long as the roads were dry. you had to keep your foot light when they were wet. one morning he went out to go to work and the car had been stolen. never seen again.

Well hey, let me know the next time an FD is produced and I'll buy one. Until then, I'll stick with the only currently produced rotary car

I love hearing the good advice MOST people on this webiste tell others about street racing, GOOD JOB EVERYONE!

We all at times act stupid in our cars but those events should be rare AT MOST, drive safe people...you have family that loves you!

I remember about 6 months ago, I saw an RX8 driver trying to egg on a kid in an Evo into a street race. As an owner of an Evo at the time, I figured the guy in the RX8 probably thought it was a plain old Lancer. The best part is that the kid in the Evo let the RX8 driver race himself.

And when I owned my Evo, I was driving from SF to home and a guy on the freeway in an RX8 decided he wanted to race me on the freeway. Maybe he was just seeing if I would go for it and wanted to see the Evo go fast, but really.. it is a waste of time for everyone involved.

I'd say the posts here are obviously not indicative of all RX8 owners. Duh! :D

Yeah but the average joe wouldn't be able to tell the difference between an R32 and a Golf. So rare in #s, yes. But rare in appearance, NO.

isnt about the cars character and not how fast it goes in a strait line come on a ferarri can beat a porsche but i would still be fine with the porsche. At 9,ooo rpm, other sports cars would be making out their wills.

You are a testament to how easily influenced some people are by media gimmicks...

For everyone else don't take this as a dig on the RX-8, I like high revving cars, but using Mazda marketing blurbs on forums is laughable.

No, you're just exactly the type of person I was talking about in the Focus->RX-8 thread. I think you're also one of those people who get a lot more into the "live and let live" philosophy when you're standing right there in front of the guy.

There's stuff you just let go, ya know?

I'm just as blunt face to face, some people appreciate it some are taken back by it. Say something lame in front of me and I'll call you on it.
