Does the 8 have a blackbox that records speed traveling, etc., that your insurance company could access in the event of an accident to deny your claim?

Your safe dude. They'll never know you were on the race track. But I will.

Did not know high end cars came with blackboxes.

I've always thought it's an accessory parents buy to monitor their teenage drivers.

Good to know when it's time to look at luxury cars.

Only GTRs come with those, and only R35s, even like SL65 AMGs dont have one, and no the RX8 does not have one, besides mazda and subaru are pretty cool about motorsports involvement. Mitsubishi and Niassan are NOt

R35's ECU Its not "black box", it just records what you've did to the car. For example have you disbaled VDC and use Launch control For an extended period of time(Nissan already update the ECU, so its ok now)

For the record 8's ECU will record your Maximum RPM and tons of other information too. so ITs not hard to tell if you've ever been thru a series of "higher" than normal performance driving ...

My '06 owner's manual says there's an Event Data Recorder:

"This vehicle is equipped with an event data recorder. In the event of a crash, this device records data related to vehicle dynamics and safety systems for a short period of time. These data can help provide a better understanding of the circumstances in which crashes and injuries occur and lead to the designing of safer vehicles."

So Big Brother is watching, and he'll know what I was doing just before you crashed into me.

Hmm, "For crashes that don't involve litigation, especially when police or insurers are interested in assessing fault, insurers may be able to access the EDRs in their policyholders' vehicles based on provisions in the insurance contract requiring policyholders to cooperate with the insurer. However, some states prohibit insurance contracts from requiring policyholders to consent to access."

The blackbox for the 8 is located right next to the inflatable slides.

If it does have one, which i'm sure it does, would it also know what roads you have been on? AFAIK there is nothing wrong with speeding off road or on a racetrack.

I worked at an infiniti/ nissan dealership for half a year and we could tell for exactly the amount of time the VDC was off, technically could void warranty for even 2 seconds but everyone understood that its possible to accidently hit it with your elbow or something and then turn it off.

HAHA im suprised no one ever used the excuse "But it was only off for less then 12 seconds..."
