Do you consider all of the keys on the keyboard useful? BTW, the shift keys are located on the lower left and the lower right of the keyboard. Either one will change a lower case letter to an upper case letter. This can be helpful for "I" and words that come at the beginning of a sentence. It will help to make you sound intelligent, but not if you start threads that have been beat to death like this one.

Plenty fast for me. And the fact that it's possible without the complexities of turbos or superchargers is just gravy!

"Look—a small, lightweight engine with just 3 moving parts! Do you see the beauty in that?"
"Cool! When's it coming with a turbo?"

From a stand still the car feels somewhat slow. But if already moving and drop it into a gear that puts you at or above 6k rpm it feels pretty damn fast.

mid-14s in the 1/4 is still faster than a LOT of cars out there.

Also, for the money I could have gotten something faster. Hell I could have paid about $7,000 less and got a SRT-4 that is MUCH faster in a straight line than the RX-8.

But there is a huge problem with the SRT-4 and all the other cars. No matter what, they are not an RX-8.

When my 8 was N/A, I used to always be in the "high" rpm range, constant beeping with no go.

dont fool yourself people, the RX-8 is a "slow" car.

This car isn't slow at all. Just recently I went through a canyon road with my friends, one had an MR2 and the other a 240SX. I was driving in the back since I didn't know the road, but everytime we hit a hairpin or a curve, they would brake heavily (mind you we're going about 70MPH) where as I just let off the gas a little. Then when we straightened out I would almost rear-end them I had so much power going in-out of the turn and they didn't. The 240SX had some major shock/strut upgrades as well (thousands of $$$). I felt pretty proud, and they felt ashamed. =) haha!

That's just an example. I think this car is beautiful and fast as hell. Like others may have said before me, to me this car is an exotic.

Look around, it can take over 90% of the cars on the road. That's an A on most grading scales.

There are faster cars but I fee it is fast. I do feel that it is more work to drive it fast then say a 350z because you need to keep the revs above 6K to keep it moving. Straight line you need to dump the clutch above 5K to make anything happen.

How many of you have been owned by soccer moms in their Voyagers from a dig? I have Seriously, there's no stopping a crazy *** mom when her son is late for soccer practice! My point is that any freakin car can rape another on a street, cuz the max you can go is the damn speed limit! Slow or fast becomes a non-issue cuz every car will eventually hit the speed limit. (Unless of course, if you plan on breaking the law like I often do!) Handling and looks, on the other hand, are what sets a car apart in the real world. That's all I have to say.

Yes, the rx8 is slow.

It handles well, sounds great, looks great, and is very smooth in terms of shifting.

With the extra room, the rx8 is a winner without a doubt. IMO.

I was trying to say that you asked a question that has been answered weekly for the last 3 years. And, it looks like you typed it in on your cell phone.

Can I take that smartass comment as a compliment?

This car is so damn fricking fast even its shadow cannot keep up and it would suck a blackhole as it passes by instead of the other way round.

I just traded in my Dodge Ram Daytona Edition for my RX-8. The RX-8 isn't fast in a straight line, but its fast through the corners.

So now that we've all put our two cents in. How much HP can actually be gained by an RX without putting a turbo on it? Mine already has a GReddy cat-back, and just wonderin what to do next. It needs more ooomff when i give it gas!

Youre not going to get much more out of it without FI. I'd suggest a lightweight flywheel and possibly an axial flow short shifter. It'll make it feel like more oomph;.

Sometimes I have a feeling that its the electronic throttle system thats preventing the car from giving ooomff even after you stomped on the throttle, increasing it gradually seemed to be working better.
