do u consider ur rx8 slow?

i dunno i was just curious does anyone feel like ur not next to the competion with ur 8 to other cars out in the market.i thought it was pretty fast when i first test drove it .but notice that rx8's bone stock only do about high 14 's and low 15.What do u think?

captain mercury 05-15-2006 11:40 AM

good enough for me

FABRO 05-15-2006 11:42 AM

compared to other cars in the market that are in it's price range then I would say yes it's slow, but compared to your average civic ricer then no. Theres more to the Rx8 then straight line, which is why I bought this car.

..its the weekly “slow” discussion.

I’ll say once again, slow is relative, since everyone has a different idea of acceleration. Guys who are used to Vipers, C6’s, etc. would likely call the 8 a straight-line slug, and relatively to those cars, it is! With me, one of my bikes can reach the 8’s top speed in about 10 seconds, so of course the 8 feels slow. But to me, the way it builds power, the sounds, the smoothness, the 9000+ rpms…more than satisfies.

But, many guys can’t look past the fact that a mid 14 sec. quarter is not a “fast” time in 2006, especially for North Americans. That just means cheaper 8’s for those of us who recognize a great car is much more than quarter times.

drive an 88 crx automatic for a week, then drive your 8..HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!!!!

Animagix 05-15-2006 12:37 PM

yeah, i came from a pig of an A4 v6 automatic. it was pretty slow compared to my 8. I realized there were other cars that were faster if not, MUCH faster for the same price, This was the sexiest yet practical option with plenty of speed for me. Though, i'm beating a dead horse by saying the gas mileage stinks so much i stopped occassionally commuting to the city and rely on buses and trains.

NO!

:spank: :fight:

I'll let the emoticons back up my feelings for the pointlessness of the question.

NgoRX8 05-15-2006 12:47 PM

yes i do. i hate it. car is so freaking slow...

nvm i was just grannying

soldano 05-15-2006 01:00 PM

i consider my rx-8 fun to drive...

HolyCross05 05-15-2006 01:06 PM

fast enough for me

SlayerRX8 05-15-2006 01:07 PM

Being fast isn't the pont of the car. It's certainly quicker than your average car, but really I bought this car because I was floored at how FUN the car was to drive!

LostAngel 05-15-2006 01:10 PM

It's fast enough for me...I think of it this way....we are faster than most of the cars out there...since most of the cars out there are sunfires, cavies, cobolts, civics, and old beat up cars. I have the fastest car at work. Honestly, when you are in the street...and you look around...most of the cars you will see are slower than the rx-8. I love my car.

rx8dude907 05-15-2006 01:14 PM

thats true this car is awesome.we stand out in the crowd too. :ylsuper:

NoTears316 05-15-2006 01:33 PM

My 8 likes pie, and thats all that matters to me.

strokercharged95gt 05-15-2006 01:35 PM

honestly yes but it makes a smooth daily driver...

late8 05-15-2006 01:36 PM

I'm coming from an old '95 4 banger Toyota p/u so yeah my 8 feels like an F1 lol.

That's what I like about my car...it stands out. Anytime i'm at an intersection...people ranging from young to old stare at the car...I honestly think people in 8's get more stares than people in vette's and vipers...why? Because at least where I live...there's tons of vettes...and a few vipers...it's not uncommon to see a few vettes a day. A vette and viper are cars that people see all the time (in real life, or movies/books). 8's on the other hand...are NOT that common. I know it's not the fastest car from Point A to Point B...but it sure looks good getting there in my opinion.

So is this like miata.net's "tuesday gay car post?" The monday "slow car post?"

Fast (or slow) is in your head. If it tickles your fancy, then great.

Transam kid 01 05-15-2006 01:40 PM

It's not slow
It's not fast
It's "quick"

StewyRX8 05-15-2006 01:42 PM

It is fast enough for me, I have driven way slower. It is a car that is fun as hell to drive.

dupa12345 05-15-2006 01:45 PM

well no since i have to break every time to merge into hgwy traffic

face it .. it kicks ass among many other cars on the street .. and for the price its almost unbeatable

yeah i dont get the stares .. maybe cause we have so many cars in the city that it doesnt matter or i dont pay attention .. but im starting to hear from my friends .. its a nice day - why dont we take your car .. as if it was exotic or what not .. well it is to me but it's cool they see it like that too

I'm coming from a 93 chevy blazer so no, I do not consider the 8 slow at all.

zaglo6204 05-15-2006 01:52 PM

i like to call it agile ;)

cleoent 05-15-2006 02:53 PM
