Do 16s fit a GT?

I'm in desperate need of winter tires,
came across and set of cheap 16 inch tires

will 16s fit with the GT brakes?
and what size of 16s will work?

215/65/16 are the winter tire sizes..
what do you guys think?

If by GT you mean a manual trans 8 then no, they won't fit. I have 17s on my base manual trans 8, and they barely clear the calipers. 16s wouldn't have a hope. 16s are standard on the Automatic, but I'm not sure what packages on the auto might give you larger calipers. The standard calipers will take 16 inch wheels. That's all I've got. Someone else might know more.

Oh and that is US spec. If you are in another country, other rules apply particularly to the five speed, manual trans, four port 8 sold in Europe.

You might be in luck. Try searching the forum for this question particularly in the "Tires, Wheels, Suspension section" of the forum.

Search functions are found in the upper right hand part of the screen. I am pretty sure that you should be able to find this question answered before. If not, others might know if the GT spec on the Auto includes larger brake calipers.

Yup you are correct. Anything except base level automatics have the upsized brakes that barely clear 17s.

Hey -

I did a little searching, and I agree that it wasn't easy, but I found the below, which seems to point to you having larger front calipers like the Manual transmission cars. I don't think that 16s will work, but I still can't say that with authority having never looked into it myself.

Best of luck - H

Base comes with"

16 in wheels
100 watt stereo/cd 6 speakers
automatic
4 disc brakes
power locks
power windows
anti theft

Sports package adds:

Xenon lights
Fog lights
DSC and traction control
Limited slip Diff.
18 in wheels
larger front brakes
and sports tuned suspension.

Touring package adds:

sports package
300 watt bose 9 speaker system
power sliding moon roof
auto dimming mirror with homelink system

Grand touring pakge adds:

touring package
leather
8-way driver power seat with lumbar
heated front seats
heated mirrors
(and on the 06's) advanced keyless entry and start system

Shinka package adds:

Grand touring package
Sirius radio with 1 year sub.
Urethane foam injected suspension crossmembers
Unique leather
6-disc in dash cd
Bright alloy wheels
leather wrapped parking brake handle
Shinka B-pillar applique

Hope this clears things up... and get the manual...
