Differences in RX-8 Models in Major Markets

Could people post or send me to post (I did a search but couldn't find any) that highlights the differences in the RX8 in different markets...

The major market areas (with sub sections) I can think of are:

North America
USA
Canada

Oceania
Australia
NZ

Far East
Japan
Singapore

Europe
UK
Continental

If posting a difference you can think of, mention the market area(s) that have it.

For example:

NA-USA Market:
Double oil cooler - I know Canadian models don't have these what about the other markets.

I also know that Strato Blue Mica is NOT a color choice in the NA market... what about other markets...

Post or show me the appropriate thread...

Hmm, many of the CDNs have complained about not having these... Perhaps it comes in all models in the US and on the GT in CDN...

Not a simple exercise I'm afraid because the differences are not just across the major markets, they are also within the major markets (like 6MT FE32 Type S high power Renesis available in Singapore from MM, but Parallel Importers in Singapore provide the SE3P JDM Type S and both cars have slightly different cosmetic and other features (one or two oil coolers, speed limiters, etc.). If you really want to go into detail for Far East Singapore, PM me or better yet, just send a specific request for info to the Far East forum and compile from there.

One difference I've spotted is that the US market models do not have electronic climate control. All we get is the "old" fashioned temp dial, fan speed and where we want the air flow to come from.

I've seen other markets get the electronic climate control with temp settings.

Not a big deal to me although it would be a nice to have item. Of course, ours is cheaper than most markets (using current exchange rates) so I assume they cut out a non essential feature or two.

Damn right and I love 'em :D ....called puddle lights :p Plus the FE32 Japan 8 Type-S export gets the completely useless headlight washers in Singapore...has anyone used them in Europe, perhaps.

Canada - daytime running lights......headlight washers.............no TPM

also there is no option for the smaller 17" wheel and smaller brakes on any Canadian car. The larger wheels/brakes are standard on all models.

When washing my car today, I saw where the lights for the mirror (puddle lights) would go. There is an insert.

Perhaps if I get bold, I will take the mirror apart and see if I can wire up a light in it.

I know that mirrors are heated in the GT model.

I am more interested in those major differences (color... seems that US and Canada can get the car in Whitewater pearl but can't see that color choice in the Singapore site)

BTW, Do you have to get out of Singapore to really drive the RX8 on the open road (e.g. cross into neighboring Malaysia???)

FE32??? that's a new one on me, SE3P is the official chassis designation from Mazda Japan as far as I know. I'm just curious, is the FE32 Type-S also rated at 250ps like the JDM Type-S?

But I agree, with all the different colors, cosmetics, and various versions out there, it would take a while to compile the differences now. HP is the major one: 250 ps (or 247 hp) Japan, 238 hp N. America, 227 hp Europe etc. But even with the different HP ratings, the car seems to perform about the same in all regions. (Although I have seen some slower 0-60 times come out of some UK mags.)

Japan also got their own limited run of Mazdaspeed A-spec ver I & II RX-8s, which is kind of a biggie. But the HP wasn't really any different, just a small unspecified bump, so perhaps not such a biggie after all.

You can get the white in Singapore, just not from Mazda Motors. The PI's can bring it in, but it comes at a slight premium. There are a few of them in Singapore.

Absolutely psbjames! The pic in my sig is from a drive along the back roads in Malaysia. The main highway is the North-South that runs from Singapore up thru Msia to Thailand. Here you can really get up to speed. However, the more technical (twisty) back roads are the most fun because for the most part they're in very good shape

FE32 is made in Japan, but for export to Europe and other countries (like Singapore) and only comes as a 6MT at 227 hp. SE3P is the JDM chassis, but you can also get these in Singapore through the PI's, mostly as AT but also the higher power 6MT.

In Europe there are minor differences between the countries, but to all of them applies (I think):

- no TMPS
- puddle lights in the mirrors
- no automatic transmission available
- two engines to choose from: 231 HP with 6-speed and 192 HP with 5-speed, both manual
(192 HP has 4 intake ports vs. 231 HP with 6 intake ports, also different air intake systems)
- both engines with two oil coolers
- 231 HP with xenon lights and headlight washers
- automatic climate control is standard
- rear fog light is standard
More details (for Germany) at http://www.mazda.de

Hey Frostee, no TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) here in Canada...

And I thought there WAS smaller wheels on the Automatic that I saw (2005) on the lot... I'm imagining things! This thread isn't giving me much trust in the info so far!... I will post things that I KNOW to be true for Cdn cars:

-Cdn cars to have the dual oil coolers on 6MT models (GS or GT)
-Cdn cars come standard w/BOSE and 6 disc
-Cdn cars come with headlight washers (all models) - whoopidee doo dah
-Cdn GT models w/NAV come with the better Dunlop tires (8090M)
-Cdn cars (GT 2005 12/04 build) come standard w/front mud guards (in trunk, dealer installed)

That is all I am SURE of... there must be other stuff though.

Well... the easiest way for me to tell is to let some air outta my tires... lol

I checked the US spec sheet and it does mention them (but nowhere on the cdn specs)

Thx Gomez.

Puddle lamp is the side mirror light you are referring to.
They are heated mirror too.

Oh the spare space safer wheel standard. (now standard item in most people's garage anyway).
