Did you know?
Today a well-educated young (mid 20's) co-worker at the company I work for informed me that the RX8 was "designed after the Ford Focus" and he proceeded to show me the shape of the front fenders that were influenced by the Focus.
What do you say? It just wasn’t worth a discussion. It was a very short conversation. Probably about as long as this thread will be! :D

You should have just started laughing uncontrollably…banging on your desk, shaking your head, and making spit bubbles….and ended it by passing gas…maybe that would have forced him to reflect on what he said.
Education is good, but I’ve seen so many college students cheat that I really lost a lot of respect for college education. (NO NOT ALL OF THEM, I know there are hard working and very smart students out there)
LOL

My first reaction to the front fender flares was that they were strongly inspired by the Lamborghini Diablo. That was long before I was even considering getting an 8. The rest of the styling isn't trying to be a Diablo, though, so it doesn't bother me like the MR2 Spyder-Porsche Boxter ripoff.

therm8, the guy is European, from Germany, so maybe he was picking up on this Swiss debut Focus? Well, actually there may be a stunted resemblance but the 8 came first and Ford may actually be utilizing the awsome styling as a slight take-off on their brand products.

All I know is these both of these cars (especially Rx8 :D ) are trully cool even in their somewhat design You`ll see it @ NFSU2 that the Rx8`s still fun even in a kind of some imitation

Wouldn't surprise me. Styles are borrowed all the time. I hear the wheels for the 8 were styled from an old vehicle called a wagon which, get this, was pulled by a horse. Apparently, unlike ours, the wagon had wooden wheels, which were also circular in nature.

i should include this in my rant thread but ill just do it here-
whenever people think they have a new topic of discussion they should do extensive searchers of my posts. this has of course been talked about here before. there is a similarity in the wheel arches to the arches of other cars. the focus is one and there are others. now to let you in on why - here is my post from jan 14th 2003 on this very subject
see? :D the guy at your work was correct - now go tell him

But arriving as early as this june is the Mazda rx-8, also done under mays watch.
The rx-8,already boasting the no-b-pillar design, marks the return of Mazda's flagship sports car. The 6-speed manual transmission on this car, producing 247 horsepower, is the only way to properly experience this car's performance, though it does also come in a 207-horsepower automatic transmission.
then some more about ford blah blah blah.
