Dealerships pushing synthetic oil now?
#26
There is a window open for fraud but I fail to see how it's worth their time when in the end it will end up costing more to go the distance regardless of the outcome of the dispute.
With that said, most owners who change it themselves do a higher quality of work. I for one let every last drop out and flush it with a clean quart and check the level until it's on the money. I know there is still oil trapped in there but it's something I've always done. I've seen several dealerships change oil firsthand and it was enough for me to start doing it myself.

Just bringing an update on this...
Apparently it was a "slip of the tongue." He actually meant to say they now offer a "Premium" oil change for the RX-8, which uses an oil that cleans/burns better blah blah, etc. which is totally fine with me.
To be fair, the place was plastered with a new (?) synethetic oil that they must offer for their other vehicles. I can't remember the name, shoulda wrote it down... oh well.
So they might be pushing synthetic now, just not for the RX-8.
