Mazda has a great product but the dealers SUCK. Salesmen I had were generally nice, the F&I guys as usual were slime and the manager was ok.

Mazda corp kicks ***. and the personbally bitched my dealer out for me several times.

Service in general sucks unless you get a good rapport with the tech working on your car.

Galpin Mazda in Van Nuys, CA was absolutely terrible!!! Treated me like dirt and wouldn't give me the time of day. Most likely due to the fact that I am a jeans and t-shirt kind of guy and brought our 95 Honda Accord to trade in. Galpin Mazda has a 2nd location by my house in Valencia and they contacted me when they had the color and style of RX-8 I wanted and when I told them I was so pissed off by the way I was treated at their other location and I was taking my business elsewhere, they changed their tune. Needless to say, I got the price I wanted and the trade in on the Honda. However, I shouldn't have to go through that much trouble! MazdaUSA is awesome!

If I still lived in Jacksonville, I'd vote highly satisfied (Tom Bush Mazda), but here in Charleston I'd have to go with neutral.

Eddie Accardi in Ft Lauderdale gets a from me. Their service dept. is a badly-managed bunch of butchers (evidence of this was on my miata, at the firewall), and generally are not capable of working on fine cars. They won't cover the fenders, they won't clean off their greasy pawprints, and as mentioned above, will do physical harm to the car while in service. (Fskwit who replaced my CAS O-Ring on the Miata tore up the firewall.)

Sales at Accardi: Go in armed with knowledge and patience. They'll try every trick in the book to pad the bill. Bait and switch, hi-pressure, fast-talk, and liberally sprinkling BS items like paint protectors, warranty "upgrades" and other non-essential goodies. It wouldn't be a surprise to find out their sales offices are bugged. I have a little suspicion they are.

But just for service, they can suck my left torqueable fastener.

My next Rx will likely come all the way from Birmingham, AL. I won't give a penny more to accardi... their level of "service" is akin to that of an 80's Chevy dealership.

Autobarn in Evanston, had a very good sales experience and a a very poor service experience. Of course it sounded like Mazda Corp. had their sales department under the microscope at the time so don't hold me to it.

Smile

I go to Russ Darrow Mazda in Greenfield, WI.

I'm not too thrilled with their service department..my tire pressure warning light came on while I was on my way for an oil change. I asked them to inspect my tires for any leaks. They came out and told me none was found, but suggested I get them resealed. I was running late so I left..they didn't even bother putting any air in the tire that was obviously low, so I went to a tire shop down the street and they found a huge nail and plugged it in minutes.

Another time, I needed a replacement grill, so I called in and ordered one from them. I was given a price, but when I went to pick it up, they gave me a different price charged me extra. Nothing major, but these things annoyed me quite a bit.

The salesmen, however, are very friendly. When I first started considering an 8, I told the salesman that I didn't know how to drive a manual, and he took me to an empty parking lot for a couple hours and taught me, without pressuring me to buy the car afterwards. Most other dealerships I had visited treated me pretty rudely..maybe didn't take me seriously because of my age.

I voted neutral, but I'm leaning towards satisfied..not 'highly satisfied' though. :]

Sales in Mazda in Alex, LA sucks ***. Ryan, head sales, almost NEVER reply my emails. He ignore my repeated request to hunt for a Shinka, when in fact there are two in the neightboring dealers. I was stupid to let him con me 34k for a 05 Touring AT back in Aug 05 to begin with anyway... In sharp contrest to the parts dept lady was very nice. In fact she helped me located the hard to find Rx8 book .

But again, you will be insane to come anywhere near Ft. Polk anyway...

My Experience :

Dealership :

Koppell Mazda : Crappy sales department, the sales didnt really give a crap about my existenccce in the first place (probably due to the way I dress, but come on! Im a DAMN customer!) Tried to push me into signing contracts, when I told them I want to "think about it", they didnt even said bye and just turned away.
Service Department : I dont think they know what they're doing, I had a CEL of "Air System Problem" which was a result of a clogged CAT. but instead of checking the CAT, they blamed my K&N 2nd Gen Intake said that it "messed" the airflow which throws the CEL. After that, I told myself "This is the first, and last time I'll be here"

Manhattan Mazda -
Sales department - Pretty Good, I remember I dressed like crap (broken T-shirt and shorts + flipflops!) but they still served me well. Didnt spent enough time to teach me about the manual of the car. (Oh this is the place where I got my Shinka 8 from)
F&I Department - tried to rip me off with some stupid alarm and warranty upgrades, but just a straight no and everything went pretty smooth.
Service Department - Having some unusually long wait time, I was there once for an oil change, I thought it should take an hour, but end up waited 5 almost 6 hours. and if I want to go there again (for whatever, even just oil change) the waiting list is like 2-3 weeks long. so forget it! Oh they dont even have Loaner.

Mazda of Great Neck :
Service Department - So far so good, be able to solve most of my problems. Its a little bit long (took them 5-6 hours to change brake pads) but I guess thats ok consider that I saw quite alot of cars there. You can get a loaner here but call at least a week in advance.

Capital Mazda of Cary NC.

can't say enough good things about them. never jerked me around. had my car waiting, gased and washed when I got to the dealership to do the deal. Did everything in 45 minutes and was off the lot. And I got the car for $400 below invoice........

treated with professionalism, never jerked me around, only asked pertinent questions that had to do with the deal, introduced me to the mechanic side, shook my hand and sent me on my way...........I'll be back...................

I find Bob King to be a horrible dealership. They sell every kia, scion, and whatever brand on earth and they dont have a mechanic that knows the RX-8.

I am currently fighting with them on what I *BELIEVE* to be a bad starter and they cannot find anything wrong with my car and just want to give it back to me.

O'Hara (formerly Fairhaven) Mazda has been excellent thus far. The salesman actually knew a lot about the car and they have an award winning RX-8 technician. Changed out my condensating-taillight and slightly broken armest tray guide no questions asked. First and every 5th oil change free.

Valley Mazda, San Louis Obispo: Very very good! Supervisor for mechanics a 7 and an 8 owner, Sales (Ben) was willing to drive 60 miles to make a delivery of my new car and attends the 7/8 car rallys. They were willing to rent a car for me to drive, at the dealerships expense, when my own insurance did not cover car rental. They can take an 8 apart and put it back together right! Supply guy willing to let my mom pose with his Harley Davidson, (beauty -duel carb) wearing his leather jacket and skull bone helmet to take pictures to send to my kid sister who forbade buying a sports car for mom and recommended a motor cycle for me. We were softening her up for the bad news that Mom now has the 8! Valley has kept my 1993 323 alive and they plan to keep the 8 in top shape for the next 20 years!
