Dealership Problems in NY

Ok, let me start off by saying my car is 100% stock.

I went to Giuffre Mazda in Brooklyn, NY. This is my first time taking the Mazda in for any type of warranty work so I was a bit edgy about the dealership and these guys were rude as hell.

I came in and spoke with the advisor and the first thing he asks me is where I bought the car, I know it doesn't matter so I told him that shouldn't matter. We continue speaking and I said I bought it from a used car lot. So the first thing he tells me that they might not be able to work on the car because I didn't buy it there which is total BS. I start telling him about the suspension problems and the rattle from the sunroof and the condensation in the tail light. He then tells me that my car has high miles and they might not warranty the car. The car has ****** 33k miles and has a warranty until April of next year.
After that he checks up the record and then tells me that the car had to many hands in it and that he isn't sure if the service manager is going to approve the work on this car. By then I realized this guy is a total moron and ******* so I just nodded to everything he said.
He has no right to speak to me like that so I called Mazda nationals and I just told them exactly what he said and the type of treatment I got. They immediately put me on hold and called the dealership, she spoke directly with the service manager and she told me that everything will be taken care of. After she did all that I even told her I was nervous about leaving my car at a place I just complained about, they might mistreat or do something to my car. So she said call me back at my direct number if anything else comes up.

So bottom line, after this, I am not sure as of yet if I will bring my car back to Giuffre but I do know that Mazda nationals has good customer service.
Anyone know of a better place in this area?

i HATE Giuffre Mazda. they treated me like **** too. I complained a dozen times to Mazda corporate.

I picked up my car from them and it was missing the tire kit. they 'promised' me they would have it in a couple days, and it never came. then a week passed, then a month, then TWO months, and still nothing. I continually called MNAO and complained, and they put calls into them and they would tell them they would call me to get it to me ASAP, and they never did. Then, Giuffre would not take my calls...they would put me on hold and never come back.

I finally got my tire kit from Mazda corporate, and they were looking into them further.

I was treated like garbage the whole process through. as part of my deal Ithey were supposed to pay my remaining lease payments and didn't. i found out from my lease company that they were still outstanding a month after i did the deal. Giuffre claimed they "sent it to the wrong address". comeplete BS.

I advise you keep complaining to MNAO and complete bitch out Giuffre. Hopefully they will get enough complaints that they do something about them.

^ im glad i saw this thread because i was going to go to them instead of manfredi. right now my car has been at manfredi for over a week. i hate leaving my car there. when i brought it in, the techs were peeling out in everybodys car and i brought it up to the service guy and he blamed it on the painted floors.

Yep, I think thats the one.

I've never been there. I mean, wow, good thing I've never been there !

Well, if you guys dont mind to go a bit *far*, you guys can try Great Neck Mazda, They have a loaner program too, but make sure you DO NOT HAVE any mods to your car. People who works there does not know what Modification is and will give you loads of bullshit as soon as he find out that you have aftermarket stuff. Everything else, they're ok, nothing more, nothing less. and they often dont have parts, need to order.

Or try Koppeel Mazda, At least they will ask you to *change it back to stock then we'll fix it*, Tech there is not very skillful IMO, they dont even know what is a clogged CAT (almost 2 years ago). reason I didnt go there anymore because I hate their fuxking sales department. they treat you like rats, I walked in was about to find a car for my friend, if the price is right I will just tell him to come sign the papers, as soon as the sales department knows Im *not* the buyer, they gave me the *look* and just ignored all of my request.

I'm in Manhattan and take mine to Wayne Mazda in NJ—"the largest Mazda dealer in the world". Until recently, Mazda was the only brand they sold and serviced—big plus in my book because it means their mechanics work on Mazdas all the time instead of just once in awhile. They're about 25 minutes west of the GW Bridge, and have a good service department.

If you have warranty, Great Neck Mazda offers good diagnostics and service. If your car doesn't have warranty, they are a bit expensive ($105/hr). They even do Circle Inspections properly. They also have complimentary shuttle service. As nycgps mentioned, they're not well stocked with parts.

They are a bit too liberal with the lithium grease spray, but just tell them to go easy with it.

Wantagh Mazda is also pretty decent but their Circle Inspections are extremely cursory. These guys have decent amount of parts on hand from my experience.

Guiffre is a total joke. Don't ever waste your time there.

I would not recommend Great Neck Mazda either. They're a class above Guiffre but service isn't that great. It had high ratings and good reviews, so went there for a 30K service, but was quite disappointed. They charged close to $500 for a little more than an oil change, and overfilled it, too. They did not change xmission or rear diff fluid as specified in manual and argued with me over it. I called Mazda, and they told me to go back and get it done, but decided to leave it alone, and seek good service elsewhere.

I wish But that was marketed as a "30K service". I came with understanding that they do everything that's stated in the manual. When I got a bill of sale, I saw only these items:

inspected brakes / tires, cleaned injectors, did some warranty / recall cr@p (for free) and an oil change. All for measly $480 + tax.

I think your first mistake is going in there and giving the guy an attitude regarding where the car was purchased. I'm sure if you went in there, had a good attitude, and answered his question politely, things could have been different. But if the guy thinks you're giving him attitude, things certainly are not going to swing your way.

Holy crap, $105 / hour?? Jeez, what a ripoff! I work for an insurance company and the most we write for mechanical work labor hours is $55 / hour. Any more than $65 - 70 / hour and you're getting absolutely hosed.

Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but most places charge at least $75/hr in NYC. I understand mechanics actually make a third or less of this. The rest goes to the shop.

I could be wrong but my understanding of Great Neck's 30k service is pretty extensive and not just a superficial oil change.

Don't quote me on this, but it probably includes radiator flush, cabin ventilation cleaning, intake system + throttle body cleaning, rotor resurfacing (if necessary), joint lubrication, tire rotation, fuel filter change, fuel injector cleaning, oil/filter change ...

But $480 seems a bit steep.

however this dealership is notorious for this type of treatment. if you search on yahoo/google for "giuffre mazda reviews" you'll see the **** poor treatment they give their customers.

edit: i did the search for you!

http://www.dealerrater.com/dealer/Gi...-review-19318/

you can even see where there are 'good' reviews which are so obviously posted from someone at the dealership.

Take it to Wayne Mazda, great people over there. I've had 2 oil changes there since I got my car this month and I don't doubt their work (I would change it myself, but no garage or house..). My car's coming back in this Friday for a squeek problem and the service manager's giving me a loaner for the day! Also, they have a free first-service promo (oil change and such.. parts included!) on their website waynemazda.com. They're always do free circle inspections and will also do a free car wash after a regular service intervals (of course you can tell them not to, if you want, like me).

I wasn't the first to have problems and I wont be the last. There was people in front of me and in back of me catching **** from this guy and I gave him a straight forward answer but then he says oh, since you didn't but it here, we might not warranty it.

Well, I quoted you on this I can scan and attach the invoice, if you wish. Yes, they did an oil filter change and cleaned the injectors. But they didn't do most of the things as stated in the manual, which was the real point of my visit there: brake fluid flush and xmission / rear diff fluid change. I don't think they rotated tires, etc nor do I care about it.

They're very nice people and all, and even gave me a loaner while doing warranty / recall / maint work. If you want to have a good time and good treatment, go there. If you actually need something done without giving up your arm & a leg, go somewhere else.
